ANOTHER Ga. Dem switches parties!!!!!AKKKKKKKKK
http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/blog/capitol_vision/2010/12/party-switching-getting-stranger.html?ed=2010-12-08&s=article_du&ana=e_du_pap

Party switchers in the Georgia House are getting more surprising with each passing week. Rep. Doug McKillip, elected chairman of the House Democratic Caucus just last month, announced Tuesday that he is going over to the Republicans.

The latest switch, the sixth in the House since the Nov. 2 elections, expands the already huge GOP majority in the lower chamber to 114 of 180 seats. What’s different this time is that McKillip has compiled what for the Georgia General Assembly passes as a liberal voting record, solidly within the mainstream of House Democrats. Plus, his district lies entirely within Athens, a Democratic island in a sea of Republicanism in Northeast Georgia. The previous five party switchers were conservative Democrats from conservative rural districts that have been trending Republican for years. They often found themselves on the other side of most Democrats on key bills.

In explaining his decision, McKillip told the Athens Banner-Herald that joining the Republican Party is the only way to get anything done for his constituents in the increasingly GOP-dominated legislature.

That may be, but whether his constituents appreciate McKillip’s action remains to be seen. Re-elected as a Democrat without opposition last month, he said he fully expects a Democratic challenger in 2012.

Have I told you how much I hate this state????????

3. That sure would me make suspicious of voting for ANY Dem in the state.
Which might have been the whole point of the plan.

Isn't there some law against that? there should be.

4. If his voting record is too liberal he'll lose his next primary
You can change parties, but your voting record is permanent. And these are Southern Republican primary voters we are talking about here.

11. Georgia was of the "Southern Democrats", and a very important part of FDR's "base"
So he did WHATEVER was necessary to keep them happy, and (unlike Eleanor) turned a BLIND eye to their "local customs". (ie: "local option on lynching"). His Democratic predecessor, Woodrow Wilson, was hardly any better: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1568/is_10_34/ai_98125294/

How the GOP captured these racist Dixiecrats with their "Southern Strategy" is another story, but their should be NO illusions about our Democratic Party' history!

16. No, I'm saying that many R's are
and that's probably why these turncoats feel more comfortable as R's.

14. Is this really any surprise?
I used to live in GA, and it was my experience that a vast majority of the Democrats there had very little in common with 'liberals.' I had to hold my nose to vote for the best of them, really.

I am quite sure the President knows who are the obstructionist are and why he can do what he wants on many issues..Too bad many can't see that. These bluedogs are really republicons.

I get tired of hear about how we have a mix in our party a mix of what? turncoat lying bastards who don't or won't work with the President to get things done.

18. It's pure hell living in this state alright!
A fricking nightmare!

What...with many STILL ignorants proudly flying the rebel flag on the back of them ole pick-me-up trucks (and still a bit pi**ed off that they fricking lost the war!) Get over it already!!!

Get over yourselves!!!!!

Not unusual for me to cruise around my neighborhood and see where some a**hole has some kind of audacity to plank there - just right in the middle of their lawns....the fricking 10 Commandments!

I KID YOU NOT!!!!!

Oh Gosh, and the rest of the world thinks that GA (especially Atlanta) is like - this big ole "cosmopolitan" type of area....The "LA of the south" - nope. Nope, nope, nope.

STILL a bunch of backwoods folks stubbornly clinging to the days of yesteryear and I just hate, Hate, HATE living here!!!!!!!!!

20. I said in the OP that I don't like living here, but I really can't move.
our grandchildren live here.

we're retired and I'm in a wheelchair and moving would be more of a challenge to handle.

Even if I somehow could manage to get enough help to be able to move, I couldn't sell our house now. There are 3 homes in our small neigborhood that have been for sale for well over 6 months & one of them has been on the market for 2 years. It's easy for someone to say "well just move" but muvch more difficult to make happen.

21. Why would it bother you if someone put the 10 Commandments on their
own lawn? It is not the governments lawn, its private property. What is audacious about that?
