House GOP schedule for 112th Congress; less time in session
By Molly K. Hooper - 12/08/10 10:59 AM ET

The House will be in Washington for fewer weeks in 2011 under a schedule released Wednesday by Republican leaders.

Under the new schedule, the House will have a cycle of meeting for two weeks in D.C. before spending one week in home districts. Incoming House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said the new schedule would create “certainty” for members.

Instead of a target adjournment date of Sept. 29, Cantor expects the House to meet through December.

He said the House would meet for about the same number of days, but would see its weeks in session decline from previous years by 11 percent, which would lower member travel expenses.

2. Yep,
That's the way to get things done, spend less time working on the problems! I hope the people back home tell the republicans this is nothing but BS!

3. I'm not sure I want the Republicans working on the problems.
Somehow they'd find a way to make the problems worse. I say the less time they spend in session, the better.

4. Just another way to secure a raise: do less for the same amount of money.
