DeMint says he'll vote against tax deal
By Jordan Fabian - 12/07/10 09:27 PM ET

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said that he will oppose a potential cloture vote on the accord and a final vote if the package advances past a possible filibuster.

"No," the senator said his votes will be on the conservative Hugh Hewitt Show.

"I’m glad the President recognizes that tax increases hurt the economy. I mean, I guess that’s progress," he said. "But frankly, Hugh, most of us who ran this election said we were not going to vote for anything that increased the deficit. This does. It raises taxes, it raises the death tax. I don’t think we needed to negotiate that aspect of this thing away. I don’t think we need to extend unemployment any further without paying for it, and without making some modifications such as turning it into a loan at some point."

DeMint said that "the biggest problem" he has with the plan is that it does not extend the tax cuts permanently.

and the catfood commission recs included more tax cuts for the rich -- to help reduce the deficit, lol.

3. Sure they are. And he knows it.
He also knows that the rabid right no longer has to hide what it's up to.

No one is on our side.

10. Yep, and with the two-year fuse
We'll be treated to this little spectacle all over again, with the Republicans threatening, the Democrats bargaining against themselves, and finally the capitulation for another two years, with strong words from both sides that next time will be the last time. But just as Moriarty needs Holmes, Holmes also needs Moriarty if the drama is to continue, and we'll get to enjoy it all again, as billions of dollars are shoveled out of the Treasury, funneled directly into the pockets of the overrich, and then for two years we can all bemoan the sorry state of our infrastructure, our roads, our schools, our water supply and delivery systems, the deteriorating environment, and the lack of manpower to enforce existing laws. And the miscreants laugh, tote up their profits for another two years, and set us at each other's throats again.

Isn't democracy fun? Is it any wonder the terrorists hate us for our freedom?

4. Actually, if they should have extended them all just for the sake of
people being able to plan for the future.

The up and down and back and forth is driving me crazy.

5. Every single Congress there is a degree of uncertainty
No one knows exactly what lunacy will be enacted or what new war we will be getting ourselves into.. Uncertainty is the norm and not the exception.. That dog don't hunt as the saying goes.

11. For everyone but the GOP, it's a waste of time...for them, it's jockeying for position.
This is the GOP's "hook," and they are going to hammer it from now until 2012.

You know that kid in the back seat who can never sit back and enjoy the ride, but is always tapping on his dad's shoulder and asking "Are we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yetAre we there yet?"

That KID is the GOP. That's how they're going to handle this right up until November 2010. And if they lose...again...they'll do it right up until November 2016.

:patriot:
