Elizabeth Edwards is gone. Aretha Franklin is battling a likely terminal cancer. |
|
Why on earth is Dick Cheney still alive?

Accept what is and that there is much we don't understand. All we can do is hope that in the end, the bastards get what they deserve.

4. I went into my anger phase of mourning for E. edwards yesterday. |
|
I got really mad at lots of what I considered John Edwards apologists. It's over today.
I recongize it more today, after working it thru. It is hard and it is UNFAIR.
I share all of that. But we move on.
Let's do it. Anger stultifies us and we can't get caught in it forever.
Justice, yes...let's always fight for it. Anger, well let it take its normal course thru your blood system and then rationally decide what you are going to do.
There is also the mourning for John Lennon today. Another injustice. Why him and not Dick Cheney or Nixon or John Roberts or whoever...
Hard to face, but we must move on. We can't just stop for long. Stop to mourn. Cry.
Don't give up. It's really up to us, isn't it?

8. I wonder this too, but think of this. |

Elizabeth's words and Aretha's music have brought joy and inspiration and strength in hard times to millions of people. They have lifted lots of people up and helped them feel less alone. They have been a rallying point to people of good will. Their good works will continue to do so. Cancer can't take away what they've given us.
Who will remember Dick Cheney fondly? Yes, there are those who took "joy" in his "achievements" but it was an evil, cruel selfish joy. The "joy" of the moneygrubber and the killer and the bully - and that's fake joy.
Who's going to give Cheney any real R-E-S-P-E-C-T when he's gone?

12. That's a good way of looking at it. My sister is battling cancer and |
|
has had a minor setback; I'm going to try to remember that. She's the just plain nicest person you'd ever wnat to know; it's so damn unfair.
Your thought ehlps; thank you.

14. Good thoughts for your sister, and you. |

I wish her all the best.
We're all going to die someday. Some of us will die suddenly and get no chance to reflect; we'll never know what hit us. Some of us will die slowly, and get a chance to reflect on our lives. We don't know which group we'll fall into.
I would NOT want to be Dick Cheney and have the slow kind of death. But the slow kind of death can be a blessing to those who've done more good than harm.

When he was at the Bush library ceremony and made the crack about it being the only shovel ready project in America I grumbled and said "Oh, I don't know about that, you bastard, you're looking pretty shovel ready." My husband just shook his head and told me I was terrible. (but he chuckled)

Sometimes that happens. We all we die eventually, and probably because of something unpleasurable. Cheney hasn't been well in a long time. He's just lucky to be able to afford top notch health care to keep him going. I'm sure there's a part of him that's suffering.
