Continuing pro-Wikileaks DDOS actions, Anonymous takes down PayPal.com
Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 02:03 AM by Turborama
Source: Boing Boing

Third finance-related Anonymous "Operation Payback" takedown in a single day: PayPal.com is effectively offline, moments after the command was tweeted. At the time of this blog post, the PayPal *service* is still functioning, but the site's dead. Earlier today, Visa.com and Mastercard.com were taken offline by Anonymous DDOS attacks, along with other targets perceived as enemies of Wikileaks and of online free speech... including Twitter.com, for a while.

I'll add a more mainstream source when I find one.

It's not just you! http://paypal.com looks down from here.

I'm getting this on Chrome

This web page is not available.

The web page at http://paypal.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

The Indonesian version is working though, strangely: https://www.paypal.com/id

Their little "they said wikileaks was illegal" announcement was as lame as it gets.

So the DOJ doesn't have to file charges, doesn't have to build a case, doesn't have to win a case at all, and scoffs at the very idea of a presumption of innocence. All it has to do is make a few phone calls, lean on a few of the right people, and the banking PTB cut the legs out from under whoever they are told to. Whether they cooperate out of fear or submissive habit, its reprehensible, and is a big part of the rational for Wikileaks existence. This shit has got to stop.

On edit - we could all live well enough without Paypal if we had to, and I wouldn't myself willingly do business with a toady to fascism.
