Let's face it, the odds of DADT being repealed and of the Dream Act
passing, are exceedingly thin- in part because of Senator Collins.

5. The use of acronyms really bugs me
DADT? Come on. The acronym sounds like an insecticide. Why not say allowing gays to come out of the closet in the military? It takes more effort, but anybody who reads it will know exactly what you mean. I'm not really worried about this bill, because the president can just tell the pentagon to do it. If Obama is smart, he'll just ask for a vote in congress on a resolution to give him a head count, and forget about a bill. Once it's done, no Republican will ever dare change it back anyway.

As for the "Dream Act", that's another fuzzy label. I have to confess, I don't know for sure what it's about, other than it has to do with immigrants. How do you guys expect anybody to support anything when you don't bother to describe what it is you are talking about? Anybody who reads "The Dream Act" would think it's about some kind of sleep aid.

7. lol. you scold others not to take shortcuts and you're too g
lazy to do your own homework. here, I'll make it easy for you: the dream act is a fast track way to citizenship for immigrants who came here illegally under the age of 16 and who are have no felony records, are in the armed services or going to college.

8. Dream Act would creates a path to citizenship for people raised in the United States.

If they prove their "worthiness" by going to college or into the military, then they get citizenship.

This is where so many in the anti-immigrant crowd betray their bigotry. Having been raised in this country, these people are American in everything but birth and legal status. They did not choose to cross the border, but were brought here as children. So the "they broke the law" argument goes out the window. Yet, the anti-immigrant side would, for the most part, like to see these children sent to a country that is almost completely foreign to them.
