rofl - No Country In Africa Wants To Host AFRICOM SO Guess Where It May Go?
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

1. Isn't Centcom HQ in FL?
I don't know how much difference it makes for a Headquarters Unit unless there is something going on at the time.

I say bring the guys home.

2. How can the US rich exploit African natural resources without a CentCom?
Stealing other people's property makes them angry. The US rich class right to steal needs to be protected from the masses.

HQ European Command and HQ Africa Command are both in Stuttgart, Germany. Although for AFRICOM it's always been a temp location till they could find a permanent location. And both commands' main intelligence centers are in the UK. For that matter, since you specified 'CONUS' - HQ Pacific Command is in Hawaii, which is not part of the Continental United States (and neither is Alaska for some inexplicable reason...).

Actually, before Correy Heights in Panama closed and SOUTHCOM moved to Miami back in the late 90s, CENTCOM was the one and only theater command that was HQ in the CONUS.
