One of the Jonesboro, AR murderers is being released from prison
This just makes me sick. This killer should have been warehoused for life.

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Confidentiality laws are preventing prison officials from providing details on the release of Andrew Golden, 1 of the Jonesboro school shooters who is due to get out of prison today.

In 1998, Golden was an 11-year-old school boy when he and Mitchell Johnson opened fire on classmates at Westside Middle School. They killed four students and a teacher. Johnson was released in 2005, when he turned 21 years old. Today is Golden's 21st birthday. Like Johnson, he is to leave prison with a clean record and won't face any supervision.

Families of the victims have filed a civil suit against Golden and Johnson. Attorney Bobby McDaniel says he hopes Golden makes himself available for a deposition for the court proceeding. McDaniel says it took him two years to find Johnson after his release and that he'll find Golden, too, if need be.

The shootings on March 24th, 1998, killed students Natalie Brooks, Paige Herring, Stephanie Johnson, and Britthney Varner. English teacher Shannon Wright died while shielding another student. The boys wounded eleven others.

2. Clearly, it's the law.
Perhaps the law needs revising.

5. I don't believe his gun rights need reinstatement....
I presume he was convicted as a juvenile. That means that he starts over with a clean slate at 21-- NO criminal record whatsoever. What's to reinstate?-- he has every right anyone else with a clean criminal record has.

7. honestly? that's not a question I can answer because I don't know...

...anything more about him than that he committed a terrible crime when he was 11 years old. The other boy has been out for two years and has apparently lived a peaceful life.

The OP didn't say "I'd have trouble sleeping with this young man sitting in the room with me"-- it said an 11 year old child should have been warehoused for life. I think that's the sort of obsession with revenge that is at the root of the problems our criminal justice system is plagued by.

11. I don't think he has lived a peaceful life....
I live in NW Arkansas and I don't remember where I heard it or read it (I think the newspaper), so I don't for certain that it's true, but I heard that Mitchell Johnson was pulled over in Fayetteville, AR while driving in a car with another guy that had served time in prison for killing his dad with some sort of bow and arrow type thingie. They had a weapon in the car.
