1. The water-carriers owe ME an apology too
they promised that I was voting against the worst of two evils.
It is looking more and more like they were wrong because where I am sitting, I don't see the difference.

2. You can let Rep. Cummings know - here's the link to his contact page
http://cummings.house.gov/contact/

He sounded as disappointed as we. Didn't he support Clinton first and then switched to Obama? I seem to recall an interview with him where he related how difficult it was for him to make that switch.

4. Thanks.
I'm not falling for the false argument that we wouldn't have been better off under the other party because where I am sitting--MY party is representing the same interests.
I'd rather watch THEM drive this country over the cliff than for one of OUR elected officials to do it.
At least then, they would have had to take the ENTIRE blame for this mess.
As it is, Obama has bought the mess. Lock stock and barrel and WE are forced to own it.

5. I understand...
Btw, no snark was intended by posting his link. I intend to write to him since to his credit he accepts mail from all states.

I am glad that they're now asserting that they don't want to hear from Biden. Obama owes them an explanation and some discussion. I think Pelosi made that point in her announcement of today, too.

I also don't think it's just a matter of respect for the caucus. I believe that they're protecting the process of how financial laws are made in this country. Obama can expect to be "sat down hard" - with all due respect, of course.

22. You'd have two more Scalias on the court
Reason enough as far as I'm concerned and I'm just as pissed as anyone over the tax deal.

28. Absolutely
Whenever I'm ready to give up, ignore politics and not vote, I remember the Supreme Court (and all the federal judges). Much too important to leave to a pub.

31. So you're saying Obama is "evil" and you would go back and vote for McCain.
That's pretty much what I see there.

3. Oh no. Another spanking?
The President doesn't need me and shouldn't worry about not having my support. Why should he bother his pretty little brain with my purist fuss?

He has new bffs and they are more reasonable and realistic. Trustworthy blokes they are. A much more refined set of friends. Less surly.

Good luck Mr. President. I never wish our President harm, but I have been duly chastised and having no more of this drama.

6. Well, financial laws are supposed to originate in the House
And it appears that the Dem caucus wants to discuss that face to face with the president who circumvented that process.

"Constitutional scholar"? Hmmmm....

8. That is right
It pains me how the interviewer tried to imply this was mere "hurt feelings" on the part of Cummings. I felt she was extremely disrespectful in doing so.

10. Cummings did give details on how people supported O when many believed he didn't have a chance
So I got the impression that this was part of this situation. But I've heard others last night talk about the process. So in a way, they're protecting O from an obvious constitutional breach.

When the Republicans crow about having set a trap back in 2001 it makes me ill.

15. That's a mystery to me, too
I'm trying to remember what I heard yesterday since it was brought up. I recall someone saying that Pelosi was asked by the White House not to do it because they were working on the Health Reform with such intensity. That issue was taking the rest of the air out of the room. But I could be remembering wrong.

Maybe someone else will remember what was said. Some pundits said that it was a gross mistake by the House.

20. I think it was Greg Sargent who said the WH wanted to move on taxes
before the election (and the WH has since said this too), but Congress was worried about being seen as raising taxes before the election. That's the only outside account of it I've read, though--and there were no quotes.

12. He also said that Obama owes them because their caucus took votes that lost Dem seats in the House
I forgot that portion of his statement earlier on MSNBC. But the person sitting in for Andrea Mitchell was just interviewed by Kelly O'Donnell and repeated Cummings' statement.

How does he intend to preserve and extend the middle-income breaks and the jobless funds?
