1. Just as soon as you get Congress to lay off everybody (including themselves) |

And not spend another penny. On anything.

2. We are already spending money we don't have. Why is that a problem? |
|
I mean the argument is that whatever you give in tax cuts you will gain back, right?

let's just make the tax rate for every American 100%. Problem solved, deficits over. You're welcome America.
On the other hand, there is a slim possibility that an optimal taxation level exists somewhere between 0% and 100%.

8. It's soemwhere between 40% and 90% |
|
Because those are the tax rates that coincide with every period of growth. Every time the tax rates were lower than that we have had a Depression or some other financial disaster.

7. Maybe History might have a lesson. |

The Clinton era taxes created the "Greatest Economic Expansion in History" Letting these Bush* tax cuts expire would get us back to Clinton's tax base. After Bush* got his Tax cuts america Expereinced the "Greatest Economic Turn Around in History" How would you think History would show these Tax cuts on your 0% - 100% scale?

Government is meant to run government and it was given rules on how it collect taxes to do so. Talking about a 0% tax doesn't mean we can simply ignore the fact that we still need a government and that it must be paid for.
