Tea Party Patriots Reject Tax Cut Deal, Call For It To Be Destroyed
Evan McMorris-Santoro | TPM
December 9, 2010, 2:33PM

<snip>

It seems President Obama's deal with Republicans on tax cuts has done something few may have thought possible: united the most progressive wing of the Democratic party with the most conservative of the Republicans.

In an email dispatched just minutes ago, the national office of Tea Party Patriots -- the largest umbrella for grassroots tea party groups in the country -- is calling on its millions of members to bombard Republicans on Capitol Hill with pleas to shut down the tax cut deal which House Democrats rejected earlier today.

7. Oh jeez. I can see this sub-plot a mile away
Pres. Obama will find that spine and beat back an even more outrageous Tea Party bill. As a result, the passing of the current fiasco will miraculously be seen as a "victory."

5. You can oppose a lousy deal for any number of reasons
It's the alternatives offered to the lousy deal that separate the principled from the simpletons.

15. There is a big difference
DeMint does not want to help the unemployed, Sanders doesn't want to help the super rich, big difference even if they do both agree they don't like the bill!

9. I've been saying that elsewhere for a couple of weeks: Sunset the Tax Cuts & collect anti-deficit
Populists, many of whom are on Medicare and are very interested in seeing it efficiently reformed to improve the quality of care.

18. yes. then make the republicans have to explain a vote against tax cuts for the "little people".
instead of the reverse, which is how the pubs manipulated the present situation.

11. Yeah but they oppose it for all the wrong reasons...
They think like Christine O'Donnell who said that unemployment extensions are the equivalent of Pearl Harbor. Yes that's right the Tea Party believes that helping hte unemployed is the same as a sneak attack that killed many Americans.

12. deliberately wanting obama to fail eh?
Oh nooooo, that half-black Marxist Muslim actually succeeding and siding with OUR agenda? HORRORS! :sarcasm:

I'm not surprised. From 20 January 2009 that's been the drumbeat of Rush Limbaugh and the gang: Obama. Must. Fail. I read this article and based on what the TPP want, the tax cut deal violates the promise "Permanently Stop All Job-Killing Tax Hikes." So my guess would be that Congress would end up doing nothing and giving the TPP even more ammo.

14. When ....
When the Working Class & The Poor realize WE have MORE in common with each other
than we have in common with the Rich, Elite Leadership of BOTH Political Parties,
THEN "Change" will be inevitable

Look to South America for the Blueprint for REAL "CHANGE".
VIVA Democracy!
I "hope" we get some here.

16. To fight the corporations and the rich elite
you are going to have to join with the republicans at some point.
One party can not do it.
The masses have to band together and get this country back on track
to protect the people and not protect the wealthy.
Right now they have the masses fighting themselves and enjoying
every minute they are not targeted.
