Nurses Top Honesty and Ethics List for 11th Year
PRINCETON, NJ -- Nurses continue to outrank other professions in Gallup's annual Honesty and Ethics survey. Eighty-one percent of Americans say nurses have "very high" or "high" honesty and ethical standards, a significantly greater percentage than for the next-highest-rated professions, military officers and pharmacists. Americans rate car salespeople, lobbyists, and members of Congress as having the lowest honesty and ethics, with the last two getting a majority of "low" or "very low" ratings.

4. And if you'll note...
Their counterparts in the corner offices pulled down an impressive 15% honesty rating. Since we know they're so honest. :sarcasm:

Seriously, though, nurses work very hard, and often put in a lot of long hours. I have more respect for them than I do for doctors, and for good reason. When I had my daughter five years ago, my doctor never made it. My RN was right there with my husband and me during labor, then delivered my baby, stitched me back up, and did a wonderful job making sure all was well. That's called earning your paycheck, and she certainly did. (A huge THANK YOU to that nurse, Pam, at Wesley Hospital, in Wichita, KS...I'll never forget you! :))

7. I wonder how many doctors would have been sued if it were not for the nurses who had their backs and
either asked questions, or fixed their error?

15. Some police officers, maybe
I don't hold any grudges against the ones that were involved in my case...and I was the one being arrested.

But there are definitely A LOT of really awful cops out there.

16. Nurses tend to be selected for jury duty pretty quickly because of this trust factor.
We are anticipated to be objective and analytical and impassioned for justice.
