Feds pull high-speed rail funds from Wisconsin, Ohio
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/12/09/feds-pull-high-speed-rail-funds-from-wisconsin-ohio/

The Obama administration is pulling back $1.2 billion in funding for high-speed rail projects in Ohio and Wisconsin after the governors-elect in both states vowed to kill the proposed train lines.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that he would re-direct the funds to other states, with California set to receive the largest sum.

The Golden State will get another $624 million for a high-speed rail project that will ultimately link Los Angeles and San Francisco, while Florida will receive $342 million for an Orlando-to-Tampa line. That's on top of the funds already dedicated to the high speed rail projects in those states.

Another $162 million will go to a project in Washington state, with the remaining funds divided up among 10 more states, the Transportation Department announced.

3. They should just build them
fuck what the repuke governors want. High speed rail will be good for the country, but I guess the repuke governors couldn't figure out a way to line their own pockets as well, so they so NO!?

5. Maniacs...
High speed rails are great projects. This is a slap in the face to the people of OH and WISC. I would like to think this would doom any reelection campaign for the govs in question but these days who knows.

6. I am from Ohio and I say good, the people of Ohio
elected John Kasich Governor and opposing the high speed trail was one of his key issues. That's what the people of Ohio wanted and that's what they got so don't blame Ted Strickland.

13. And Indiana thanks you.
I heard on our local public radio station this afternoon that Indiana would be getting a large chunk of Ohio and Wisconsin's share of the high speed rail funding thanks to your governors' stupidity. So I'm sorry about your state since I know what it's like to have a hateful governor (having lived with Mitch Daniels the 3.5 years I've been in Indiana) but I'm overjoyed that Indiana may do something good for a change.

... it sure as hell isn't going to go into schools or infrastructure, or - GASP! - lowering taxes.

23. I wonder how many jobs that will cost our state? Like I said
that's what the people of Ohio voted for. I didn't think the people of Ohio would vote for another Republican for at least a decade after Taft.

10. Wisconsin In A World Of Shit Already
That fucking prick scott walker is fucking crazy. Along with the nearly 1 billion dollars we lost, there are at least 400 jobs GONE. Also, they (pukes) want to make Wisconsin a "right to work state," and walker and the pukes want to decertify unions. Oh boy, this is gonna get ugly, fucking fast. Shit, the prick isn't even in office yet, and the toilet bowl is swirling at lightning speed. God, we're fucked.

16. I don't think it is so bad.
I still expect that there will be beer and travel money, and as far as being fucked, haven't been laid in years, so that's not it either.

But I think God is loving and kind, and can get us through this also. Just try to find joy.

 and stick to what makes sense.

25. Way to go LaHood.
If states do not want the money, don't beg them to take it. Let the governors of the abstaining states send them back to the dark ages.
