As for whether the country is founded on compromise ... you might want to read up on how the US constitution came to exist. The entire document SCREAMS COMPROMISE ... it allowed for Slavery, and to exclude women from voting.

11. No, it should be incremental, like HCR. So...

Gays before January 2011 will be allowed to serve but will be put in groups. Platinum gays will be allowed to shower in the barracks, Gold gays will be be allowed to eat in the mess but not shower, Bronze gays will be allowed to serve if they live off base.

All gays in the service after this date will be processed according to level of gayness and be assigned accordinly, until 2025 when all gays will be allowed to serve.
