How did this last weekend happen? |
|
Instead of Obama having a "meet and confer" with his fellow Democrats he instead meets with Republicans over the weekend regarding taxes. During these Obama/Repub meetings he not only talks about continuing breaks for the wealthy but other "agreements" his own party is unaware of. Then he comes out with a take it or leave it deal that includes the so-called "death tax" and other items affecting Social Security. SURPRISE!
Is it any wonder the House is blowing up? The Senate and House Dems are the ones compromising and trying to deal and yet he sides with the Republicans...wow...just wow.

1. Whats scary is come January, Obama will have a whole slew of |
|
new republicans to be bipartisan with, he won't need the Democrats anymore!
I expect to see this headline a lot - "Obama and the Republicans in Congress passed the legislation, with many Democrats voting against...."

He meets with Republicans (and Democrats) officially about every few months.
What the hell are you talking about?

3. His recent choice of actions is not helping Congressional Democrats, charging up the base or... |
|
...inspiring deep-pocket donors to part with their money.
He's welcome to make whatever choices he wants, but a full-frontal "Fuck you, I'm with the Republicans on this" is going to make 2011 & 2012 very sorrowfully-memorable years for him.
All of this has taken a much quicker toll on his standing across the board with Democrats in general than I would have imagined. I figured it was going to still be kissy-kissy until, say, February. Why he's choosing the path, and one still must assume these are all choices, is currently beyond me.
But if he keeps this up I wouldn't bother setting out his stockings by the fireplace- there'll be shit and coal in them on Christmas day and well-beyond if he does.

5. Some people predicted he'd be relieved with a Republican House. |
