Hingham golf club owner found dead at the course

Saturday, May 26, 2007

The part owner of a Hingham golf club was found dead on his 18-hole course yesterday in an apparent s
steamroller mishap, the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said.

John D. Mineck, 54, of Cohasset told employees he was planning to do some repair work to the course at the Boston Golf Club around 2:30 p.m., then no one heard from him.

A call came into the Hingham police station about 5:51 p.m. when Mineck’s body was discovered in a wooded area of the golf course, authorities said.

Bridgett Norton Middleton, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said the medical examiner determined the cause of death was head trauma. The death was ruled accidental.

5. This is one of those bizzare incidents when you have to ask...
:wtf: !

How did this guy get his head squished by a rather large piece of machinery?

And to be honest, the "bad" side of me took hold for a second, and I actually hoped it was Limbaugh on one of his "golfing w/people you'll never meet" sojourns...

7. About 100 years ago, I worked on a Golf Course...which is why
my lawn usually has interesting patterns when I mow it..:), and there are some pieces of equipment on e would never think of as belong on a golf course. I would think, I this instance, they were changing a green or an apron and needed to compress the soil base. later, aeration would take place to ensure proper drainage.

We had a rather large roller that we used quite often on cart trails and the like. One time, there was this particularly nasty/mean member that always abused those of us that worked there, and one of the guys ran over his ball on the fairway w/the roller...by accident ...;) and all hell broke loose. later in the season, I was in a bucket trimming a few branches when this same guy came by, and as he was going into his backswing for a drive, unfortunately a rather large twig dropped on his teed-up ball, something the rest f his foursome thought was hilarious as he came into full swing and whiffed the ball but sent the green twig some 20 feet hitting a bird, that screeched and flew right at him...:D

8. Reminds of the seen in Austin Powers when Michael McDonald gets .......
............run over by a steamroller - in very slow motion.

Seriously, my guess would be he was operating the machine and perhaps fell out of the seat and went under a roller??????
