So Democrats can't be rich but Republicans can steal, lie and subvert
Edited on Sat May-26-07 08:19 AM by live love laugh
the Constitution? It's national news and open debate for legal "crimes" for Dems ie. a high priced haircut, have sex, get a medal for Army service, get their limbs blown off, expose truth (especially if they are fat or gay ala Rosie, Michael Moore). Alberto Gonzales, Rice, Goodling, Bush, Cheney all thumb their noses at the Constitution and the law while committing illegal and treasonous acts. Not only can't we get any press about their contemptible acts, we can't even get a pic of THEIR homes and cars or a blurb about THEIR haircuts.

But we sure can hop on the Swifboat v.2007 here.

From a post about why Diane Feinstein's house is an issue when Repug houses aren't:

Because none of them are pretending to be everyman

Repukes believe in living rich lives at the expense of the rest of the world. To them, living in a grotesque heap of shit is a matter of pride. To us, it should be a deep source of shame.

Look. There's really no other way to put this. If a democrat lives in one of these excessive palaces, they're an asshole. I don't give a shit what they do for this social program or that. It's probably just politics and I doubt the legitimacy of their real motivation. Sure, many of them get a lot of good legislation passed and do their part for poor people, but when they live in disgusting piece of shit houses, I'm pretty sure that no matter how well they mouth their convictions, they don't really believe in them way down inside.

I may be an atheist, but I do remember what Christ said to the rich person. Sell it all and follow me.

From a post about the cost of Bush's haircut:

Who gives a shit?

Look at it this way, Bush isn't pretending to be friends with the poor. The price of his haircut is immaterial. Matter of fact, he pretty obviously hates the poor, and for political reasons, his haircut *should* probably be hundreds and hundreds of dollars. That's the repuke way.

Other people with fancy haircuts pretend to like the poor. They're the ones who are being two faced about things. Bush is at least probably consistent.

It may seem petty and irrelevant to a lot of you that these issues are being discussed but the fact is people are cannabalizing our own while ignoring and giving a pass to the enemy.

A thread about Edwards' haircut was a 100 replies long. A thread here about Bush's haircut is virtually ignored.

If the Republicans are using these issues as a way to discredit us then it is fair game for them. In fact, have you EVER seen Bush's "ranch"--in SIX years??????) Have you ever seen McCain's house or any of the mega Rich Republicons houses? I would bet you that Bush's, Cheney's or the majority of their homes would dwarf Feinstein's. Instead of dismissing it when their wealth is questioned, it needs to be pursued. The contrasts between the wealth of the Democrats and the wealth of the Republicans would probably be as marked as the contrast between the percentage of America's rich and poor.

LET'S discuss wealth. On both sides. People who criticize Dems and give a pass to Republicans on the same subject have questionable motives IMHO.

1. I agree with you. It is just nothing more than plain bullshit. However,

the Dems let these people get away with this crap. You can look for instance in their parenting skills but you never hear about these things, such as:

What are Bush's daughters like?

Take a look at John Kerry's daughters and all the good they are doing, excellent schools, grades and good work ethic. The same with Al Gore's daughters.

So John Edwards spent $400 on a haircut, that is probably like us spending $10 on a haircut in comparison to his salary, his house, big deal. The guy did a lot of good by taking on corporations and defending the little guy, he deserved his money for that. Also, how in the hell is a poor man going to get elected to office these days?

The Dems need to get an organization to take on these issues and push back at the bull shit the republicans and the media get away with.

4. The problem with Edwards' haircut
The $$$ that paid for it were campaign contributions. If it had been his own money, no big deal. Figure, he earned it and he can spend it however he wants. But when I contribut to a campaign, I'd like to know that my dollars are going for advertizing or something that will make a real difference in terms of having a Democratic president. I don't think an expensive haircut alone is going to get Edwards elected and I would like to know that my money is being spent wisely.

fund.

The only thing and issue you hear about from the media and Faux & other RWers is the big deal about the $400 being paid to get a haircut.

By the way, who was it a big deal was made about for getting a haircut on a plane?

2. It's The Same Hatred for Limousine Liberals
you know, the hatred for the liberal "Hollywood" crowd. The Conservatives can't understand the idea of a rich liberal.

Oh, and if quoting the bible, no Republican who ever talks about Jesus and Christian values should live "high on the hog." THATS hypocritical. <quote: remember what Christ said to the rich person. Sell it all and follow me.>

Saying one must be poor or live poor to be taken seriously on the issue of poverty is like saying one can't really have genuine concern for people battling cancer unless he/she has done the same.

It's called empathy, and you don't have to have experienced something to feel for some one else who does/is. You just have to have a heart larger than a carraway seed.

3. I like where you're going here (I saw that thread), but in all fairness,
we hold our own up to a higher (if often quite unrealistic) standard.

7. Have you ever seen a picture of cheney's castle..
and it reminds you of a castle with a moat. Did you know that he made the Coast Guard close down an inlet in the area where people have fished for a living for almost 300 years. Why, because the fishing boats ruined his view.

There was no security conflict...none. he just did not like the rusty and dilapidated boats ruining the view of the "quaint" inlet.

There was one article about it and nothing. I tried to get it back on the internet and I couldn't find it.
