Is there any especially good reason why Democrats rarely if ever defend their own? |
|

Al Gore? Thrown to the wolves (though Democrats would like to pretend *now* that it didn't happen.) John Kerry? Dissed and dismissed. Cindy Sheehan? Kicked to the whorish curb.
And then a host of small fry, like All Of Our current Candidates, congresscritters who voted 'yes' for Iraq funding (war mongers), 'no' for Iraq funding (calculating war mongers), and so on.
I can only think of two *actual* reasons that will be cited for why we either don't defend our own people, or, worse yet, actively join in their dismemberment:
1) They aren't perfect. 2) It's an individual's Constitutional right to say more-or-less anything they want.
I agree with *the fact of the matter* on those, but their *relevance* is obscure to me, to put it mildly.
What's up with this? Why don't we defend our own, warts and all, and springboard our way to *better* critters of our own?
EDIT: I'm just curious - not especially looking for flame. Feel free, though, if you've an urge :)

5. In just about any other country, the Democrats would constitute at least 3 parties |

if not more. We have Democrats who are social liberals and economic conservatives, and vice-versa. Some of us don't believe in a woman's right to choose (I do, personally, by the way). My own congressman (Gene Taylor) is basically a DINO, but he's fiercely pro-veterans. It's true we could all take it a little easier on each other, but I wouldn't trade places with the precision-marching, goose-stepping Repukes for anything on earth.
