Yo Cindy--- my name is trumad---I've been on this site from the beginning and I gotta say that if you're offended by a few knuckleheads on DU then you really don't know much about the Internet. Cindy--- I admire the hell out of you and I have defended every move you have made from the beginning of your peace quest. But if you don't know the ebbs and flows of Al Gores internet--- well--- you disappoint me.

... I'd guesstimate that you have to weight the former by a factor of 10 in order to compare.

6. Nonetheless trumad is a big old-timer and his reaction is understandable.

Cindy wears her heart out on her sleeve. That's how she is. She lost a son and doesn't want to accept it was for nothing. (I've said on another thread, well, basically, it was for nothing. Sadr still runs Sadr City, same as he did when Casey Sheehan died in combat there.) Nonetheless, it's really not surprising to me that she takes the really harsh things said about her here on DU with greater weight than the kind responses. It's expecting a lot of a normal human being to do otherwise. Hell, it's expecting a lot from hardened message board people to do otherwise, if they're the target.

The least we can do is understand that Cindy Sheehan did not start her cause out of a desire for posters on Democratic Underground to respect her.

Though she might deserve some after that comment. Cindy needs to understand that we are not republicans and we do not goose step. It's just not how it works in the Democratic Party and DU. Now everyone is going to like her. That's normal in life.

Some have disagreed with her and probably some don't care for her that much, but never was there any large amount of name-calling here that I can ever recall. I find name-calling a reason to end a discussion with someone...not a reason to quit the pro-peace movement.

7. Well I read the original thread thoroughly and I'll be very brief.

No, not everyone ripped her. But a lot did, in very very very harsh manner, viewing her as a drama queen, an indiscriminate activist who would not differentiate between "the good guys" and "the bad guys" and viewing her as an anchor around the party and the antiwar movement and being happy to be rid of the (ommitted).

It wasn't something she just invented in her reply to the criticism that she posted on Daily Kos.

It's sad that she took the words of (I'm not certain, I've never seen anyone trash her here before)a few and painted us all with the same brush. But, it is Memorial Day, difficult no doubt, compounded with the frustration we've all been feeling after the war supplemental was passed.

I've never felt she was 'my' spokeswoman, but obviously she felt obligated to many. I relieve her gladly of the burden and hope she goes and finds her own peace with those nearest and dearest to her.

This has been a long, ugly war, and it's not nearly over. Rest, dear lady. Heal.
