Cindy spoke out for many reasons but the main one was because of the loss of her son in this useless war.
that concept, that loss, that heart breaking daily reminder of someone you love that will never come back. This one mothers love for her child inspired many of us to take up the cause to voice our objections to this war.
She carried the torch for a long time, it's our turn to further the cause. Cindy represented all the moms, all the fathers, all the sons and daughters, brothers and sisters who have lost someone to this God forsaken war.
We support and have supported Cindy, but the fact is, she was by herself. Many many rallied with her, spoke with here, marched with her and in the tough times carried for her, but she is tired, worn down, not by the neigh sayers but by this war and her grief.
It has to have been very difficult to her to be that voice against the machine and at the same time, grieve as all mothers have grieved through the centuries at the loss of a loved one over a senseless war.
This is not the end of a movement but the passing of the baton. It's up to us as it always has been. However, she has mothered us all to this point. It is now up to us to make sure that her voice, her protests, her marches, her arrests were not in vein.
The Democrats may have failed us by giving into bush's* demands, but we don't have to. They giving bush the funding to continue this war, is that us? is that our voice? is that what we want in our representatives?
For me, that's a big fat no.
Cindy, rest. We will march and protest now. There won't be a single voice that will be labeled as the anti-war champion, it will be many voices.
You started it and we will finish it!
Thank you Cindy, for all your hard work and dedication in the memory of your son.
