Rosie Was Right
In her last arguement with Elizabeth Hassleback Rosie O' Donnell pointed out that when she and Elizabeth got into arguement the media would blame her and act like Elizabeth was the victim. This morning I found out that Rosie was right. The Today Show did a segement on the issue of Rosie leaving the show. In my opinion that piece was a least a little biased against Rosie. It seems to me that the segement tried to make out like all Rosie did was pick fights with everybody. Just a few minutes ago I was flipping through the channels and saw the farely new Fox morning show. There was a guest who made the statement that Rosie was so political and just seemed to get angrier and angrier as the show went on. The guest went even further the give Elizabeth credit for not answering Rosie's question. My first thought was as if Elizabeth is not political. Everything about Elizabeth is political. I have seen a number of occasions where she tried to bash Democrats while trying to support Republicans. In addition, even though I thought Rosie did not need to ask Elizabeth the question it really was an easy question for Elizabeh to answer.

1. ratings
Who cares!

Catfights boost ratings. Remember Krystal and Alexis
on Dynasty?

I really don't care what people in the public eye do to get
attention.. and I never watch The View and never will..
simply because it's always been a horrible show and
still is.

2. you SHOULD care
Because this is not a ratings war - not really. This is a shoutdown of people with opposing beliefs. And the continuation of the *St. Elizabeth* bits is just hammering more nails into the anti-war argument's coffin.

18. I don't think its hammering any nails
Bush's ratings are still low the support for the war is getting lower and lower. The anti-war movement is getting stronger. I happen to believe all this high drama keeps the issue in the spot light.

31. it's not about The View; it's about media censorship of anti-war opinions, and if you don't care abo
about that, get ready for a lot more war.

4. How do you know it was horrible when Rosie was on?
She -- and Joy Behar -- elevated that show to a REAL issue show.

7. That is the kneejerk response of many of us, but the issues here
transcend any "silliness" of the show... As unimportant as I've always viewed "the View," pun intended, the ordeal has really brought to light some very important issues.

17. Her contract was up anyway
She was leaving the show before this even happened. My guess is she either wanted to go out with a bang or she got really really pissed over the incident and didn't want any part of the show. Either way she is bringing light to important issues even with all the high drama.

32. Elisabeth has been baiting Rosie w/ neocon talking points since her WH
invitation! Monday, before the wednesday blowup, Elisabeth was talking about the iraqi terrorists, and Rosie said over 650,000 Iraqis are dead (current statisics by Iraq and others who count) and so who are the terrorists. Elisabeth went in for the kill: "You are calling our TROOPS TERFRORISTS??? Everyone knew that Rosie was meaning gov't policy, and gov't leaders who illegally,/immorally attacked and occupied Iraq who did nothing to us.

Elisabeth's accusation was immediately picked up by all the neocon shows, Fox, Scarborough, Hardball, you name it. When asked, Elis. never denied that Rosie meant that our troops were the terrorists, and Rosie wanted Elis. to tell the truth, that Rosie did not accuse the troops, but US pre-emptive war policies. Elis. escalated like a harpy (see the video--Rosie is calm and collected, Elis. is coming unhinged.)

Rosie was hurt, as she tried hard to be Elis's. friend since the show started for Ro in Sept., and her eyes welled up when she talked of their friendship, and her disappointment re Elis's lowball accusation.

One would hav had to see the show from Monday to Wednesday to see the whole horrid neocon attack.

The day after E's return from WH dinner, she walked on the set with arms folded looking ready to debate and raise the ante, as it were.

3. People respond to their biases and as difficult as it is to face...
Edited on Tue May-29-07 09:50 AM by hlthe2b
Much of society is prejudiced against fat people, gay/lesbian people, people of color, and women.
If you doubt it for one second, peruse this liberal/progressive website for a few days and you will note that some otherwise "sensitive" posters think nothing of launching into a diatribe against "fat, slothy, lazy people," or to use sexist language. Posts tend to be more subtle with respect to race, ethnicity, but some of the immigration threads have even passed that mark....

Give the MSM's obsession with the blonde helpless female--the epitomy of the "damsel in distress," I am not at all surprised at what is happening. That Babs Walters ALLOWED Rosie v. Elizabeth to be portrayed in such stark "good v. evil" kind of terms does not speak well of her... But there is surely plenty of "blame" to go around.

Looks may be a factor but I try look further in to see if they are someone I would consider a good person.

From what I have seen of EH. Not in a million years. She is scum.

11. here you go:
The actual quote is a little different from my recollection:

http://news.aol.com/entertainment/tv/articles/_a/trump-calls-hasselbeck-tvs-dumbest-host/20070525071909990001?ecid=RSS0001 (& video too)

I've always said Rosie is very self-destructive," Trump said Thursday in Chicago. "... As far as Elisabeth Hasselbeck, I've always said she's probably the dumbest person on television, but when she called me ... obnoxious, she was probably right."
