Anyone Else Notice All the Character Attacks against Edwards lately? |
|
Just really snippy stuff - but the kind that can do a lot of damage. That he is really a big phony hypocrit. That he is nasty to people. That behind the smile is a real jerk?
I just started noticing these little attacks last week. Just one here and one there.
Course I think they are doing the same thing to Hillary - only a lot worse.

1. Yes, and I don't think it's cool. Mind you, I've only been on DU a year, and |
|
people who've been here a long time say it got really ugly before the 2004 election, too. So I don't know what's to be done for it.

2. I'm talking about the stuff in the media. Are you saying there |
|
have been snippy things about him on DU, too?

5. Did you miss The Great Edwards' House Kerfuffle Of 2007 on DU? |
|
Like, late January/early February? Not our finest moment.
But I missed your initial point and agree that the media have been exceptionally catty about Edwards this time around - the usual "He speaks up for working people and therefore is a hypocrite unless he lives in a yurt and washes his hair with laundry detergent" stuff. But I'm sure if Obama or Hillary gets the nomination, they'll get around to either of them, too.

8. I think there is some truth to the house deal. I just don't understand |
|
why anyone - money or not - would ever need a house like that. And why would he buy a house like that right before the election? That didn't make sense to me. But its his money and his house.
But these guys all have tons of money or they wouldn't be running.

3. Yep - they are getting their ducks in a line |
|
No matter who the Democratic candidate is he will get trashed by both the Mainstream Media and the Conservatives. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

4. I don't why anyone would even want to run. By the time you |
|
get to the other end you have been completely destroyed.
Oh, let them talk. I still like Edwards. I even like his hair and that is kind of important to me.
I never could stand Reagan's hair. He looked so dorky.

6. Par for the course if you're a Democrat. |
|
'Pukes are just getting their ammo lined up. Doesn't matter who the nominee is, the 'Pukes will "debate" with personal attacks instead of on the issues, as usual.

7. Try to get Edwards' Democrat critics to name his website positions they disagree with... |
|
You can never get them to name any of the Edwards' positions posted on his website that they think the Democratic Party should NOT endorse. It certainly appears to be all about character attacks, which in many cases parrot the RW talking points.
Other candidates have suffered similar attacks, but it seems to be particularly prevalent against Edwards.
Makes it hard to debate issues that the candidates are proposing.
However, it also makes it easier to promote the Edwards' proposals and ideas as their own later.

9. YES especially Leno I wish someone would stick a sock in it |
|
that "haircut" thing is getting sickening. Just like when John Kerry got an expensive haircut during his campaign.
They never show the picture of bush with makeup artists, beauticians, barbers etc giving him the once over before he made the announcement that he had invaded a neutral country. The press here wouldn't even show the picture. You had to get it from the British. How vain could that be to have an army of people to get him ready to make such a terrible announcement. Why cared what he looked like. It was the announcement that was terrible.

14. Anyone know how much Leno spends on his hair? |
|
He's not exactly snipping around a bowl on his head, I'll say that much.

10. How Can ANYONE Miss Them??? I Try Not To Get Sucked Into |
|
them myself, but I have had my moments. I have written down the names of many of those here who constantly start these threads and try very hard to AVOID them myself.
Of course, I won't mention names... many of us do KNOW WHO THEY are though!!!

13. I've praised several of our candidates and failed to praise |
|
others, but I have attacked none of them, and I don't intend to. I understand that with primaries ahead there is room for some roughhousing, and every candidate must surely have thick skin by now.
In the end, we all have to hope we come up with the right choices, because Bush will be leaving monumental problems behind for the Democratic President to deal with.
