Boy Claims To Shoot, Kill 1,000-Pound Wild Boar
Some Believe Story Is Hoax

POSTED: 9:28 am EDT May 29, 2007
UPDATED: 9:35 am EDT May 29, 2007

DELTA, Ala. -- An 11-year-old boy said he shot and killed
a wild boar weighing more than 1,000 pounds in Alabama.

Jamison Stone can be seen in photos posing with the animal
in a hunting preserve in Delta, Ala.

The boy's father, who set up a Web site dedicated to the boar,
said the animal was more than 9 feet long.

Stone said the head went to a taxidermist and the body was
used for sausage meat. Their claims have not been corroborated
by a third party. In fact, some believe the boar to be a hoax.

1. Just my own humble opinion, but I think it's sad that something
that has lived long enough to get that big should have been left alone. Anything to make the record books I guess.

6. Nah, it's not Rush
A bit small to be him, and besides, I don't see the legs of any Dominican boys sticking out from under the carcass, so I'm pretty sure the Flaming Nazi Gasbag is still alive and comparatively well.

8. I have to drive through a rural area in order to get to work
A high speed, busy tractor trailer traveled road, goes through dozens of groves and pastures.

I see animal guts such as boar and cow, splayed across the road every day.

Running into a monster pig would be a nightmare. Gag

9. One word...SAUSAGE
I read that they are going to try to get 600+ lbs of sausage. I wonder how it tastes.

11. "People who love sausage and respect the law should never watch either one being made,"

From the internets ---

"Ajournalist -- I'm not exactly sure who -- once memorably said about the process of producing a daily newspaper: "You don't want to see how that sausage is made."

Actually, that line wasn't about journalism at all, which is perhaps why I couldn't remember who said it or when. The original saying had to do with Congress. The wag was Mark Twain (1835-1910). "People who love sausage and respect the law should never watch either one being made," he deadpanned.

No, no, it wasn't Twain at all. Nor was the quotemeister talking about Congress, although he did unfavorably compare lawmaking and sausagemaking. "Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made," quipped Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), the famous Prussian statesman and architect of German unification."
