Is anyone out there feeling like me?
I have lost faith in the government that we have elected. I have lost faith in the people who claimed that they would represent me. I have lost faith in people who do not seem to care that we are in the midst of an illegal occupation because American Idol is on. Skinner warns me weekly to not advocate revolution, but you know what, I dont wanna do that anymore. I am getting to the point where I dont really care about what happens to rest of the American people- they dont care about themselves, so why should I? Enjoy your appointed king, proles- Dancing with the Stars is on.

I dont make much, but I dont need much. I donate to dozens of different issues and movements. I had to cancel this month's automatic donations because I didnt work enough. I truly dont care that I dont have much money. Money is backed by the "full faith of the US Government". Is that really worth anything anymore? Money is bullshit, "news" is bullshit, and people spend all day chasing the wrong things around in an attempt to be "successful".

I am "this" close to boxing up my few belongings and walking to a monestary where I can take shelter from the rain in silent meditation and physical labour.

1. I know exactly how you feel. I feel that way, too.
If you can withdraw and find peace and harmony, my advice is to do it. I am looking at a wilderness cabin, right now to retire to. I know that "they" can come get me whenever they want to, but maybe they won't want to. Peace to you. That is a simple thing, peace from one individual to another, but in the end it may be all that we have...

3. "they" are incompetent. I know. I worked for them. "they" will never get anyone
I need to find a cabin near a stream and clean air to flush out my head.

WHat did the Ramones say? "Lobotomy"

2. Funny...
I have often thought that your possible solution might be the one for me.

But no, I have no faith in this country right now. I will keep working for a change, in 2008, but if we blow that one and business continues as usual...

Then it's time to piss on the campfire and call in the dogs. It's done. Both my little experiment with participatory democracy and the US. I have some friends in Mexico. I will be attempting to get to them. Any way I can.

4. I'm getting to the don't care stage...
but am not quite ready for the monastic life.

I'm really starting to think that most of my fellow citizens would yawn if some sort of "state of emergency" were declared by the Maladministration, suspending the November 2008 elections. A gf thinks folks would hit the streets; I don't think they'd be bothered enough to turn off American Idol.

5. For a long time
All you said. Except the monastery part. I'd prefer more distance -- like another planet.

6.  I lost faith in the government long ago
I would be content to live in a log cabin and grow my own food with the only decor being a table and lamp and a bed . I like people and being around them , I need community however I find many people like the games and I am sick of lies and goames and gains that this society forces on the masses .

I have no money and will get little from SS when it comes time for me to retire which is not far away . I am tired and disheartened the way thing have become .

7. "Patriotism is the most foolish of passions and the passion of fools."
- Schopenhauer

A sentiment that I have agreed with since My-Lai and Kent State.

The American people "don't care" because what's happening in Iraq doesn't effect most of them personally. Which is true of most people on the planet.

Revolutions aren't made by people who are fat and happy or even those who are moderately unhappy. They are made by people who desperate for change.

What is, IMO, being ignored, is that there is a revolution taking place. Around the world, people are rising up against the domination of the USA, politically, economically, spiritually. We are a dying empire attempting to hold on to our colonies and "vital national interests" through force. We are failing as so many of predecessors have failed.

We are a superpower being plagued by fleas. The costs of being a superpower, in lives and treasure, have yet to be felt by the average American. When they are, the question becomes, how will they respond? With more aimless violence? Or, will they grudgingly give up their dominance bit by bit as the inevitability of it becomes apparent?

8. "Vera, Vera...What has become of you? Does anybody else in here
feel the way I do?"

That Pink Floyd lyric came to mind when I read this post.

Yes, I also share your feelings. :evilfrown:

9. I take solace in the fact that it might not ALL be in my head
I am listening to Vera, and I find it twisted that the next song is "Bring the Boys Back Home"

Is There Anybody Out There?

I think I know why Sid went nuts.

11. Yes I do feel the same...I think the turning point was the vote of the
Iraq war..I see now that many of the dems are in this with the repugs...some even who voted against the passing this funding bill.

12. I've been talking about it for a while now.
Getting out, while the getting is good.

My wife has never been keen on the issue. Then, Saturday, we took a ride down to Clearwater to hear Dennis Kucinich speak. We saw a lot of the activists I've worked with on campaigns and other things. She was talking with one woman who explained the whole, Executive Order on continuity of govt. to my wife.

When we got home she said, "sell the house first, and we're gone".

13. Yep, me and Mr. Nay are right there with ya. After being sold out
by Dems enough times to learn the lesson, we also are seriously talking about selling the house and moving -- someplace quieter and safer. Out of the country, in other words. We're doing little remodeling/updating projects to the house to make it sell faster when the time comes. We are worn down, and frankly don't give a rat's ass for all the idiots out there who seem to think everything is A-OK. We feel sorry for our kids and grandkids, but a lot of them have made their beds and will have to lie in them. We make quite a bit of money, the both of us, and spend very little. Still shop at Goodwill and cook most of our food. Our savings will prob save us, and the kids.

14. My hope is this
My hope is that the Democrats are biding their time -- with the knowledge that a lot of Republicans will join them in the fall. If the Iraq funding bill turns out to have been a "tactical retreat," then I will forgive them.

15. It's very painful to come face-to-face with the reality of it all.
First, thank you for your faithfulness all this time in working for issues. It's appreciated!

Actually, I really believe that this is why so many people are doing their ostrich imitations... they instinctively know that if they were to really let themselves understand all that is going on, they'd drop into a deep funk.

Skinner has to argue against talking about "revolution", but quoting the founders on that... surely that can't be against any rules?

You can be sure our founders would be gathering the tea at this point....

Do what you need to do for yourself! There's some roses that badly need smelling.....
