There was some crappy Memorial day celebration in D.C. that was televised on PBS... |
|
this past weekend.
It was nauseating. I couldn't watch it. It to me was such a case of colossal public disconnect.
There were all this various bands and singers from each branch and paid celebrates reading their teleprompted speeches as if they wrote that drivel themselves.
I was waiting for a kick line of the rockettes to perform in front of the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Parades don't make money, they lose money, this televised bullshit revives failed careers of now second or third teer stars. Makes money for the various corporate sponsors and promotes some sort of gooey mixture of sugar and patriotism.
As I watched all of 3 minutes of this multimedia programmed horse shit, I was reminded of the scene from Apocalypse Now when the playboy bunny's were overrun by the desperate horny homesick troops. But in this instant is wasn't the performers that were the playboy bunny's it was the audience.
They were over brainwashed and beguiled by this form of extreme patriotism that borders dangerously on nationalism. Instead of the audience escaping by a helicopter, they lent themselves over to the overt propaganda and drank it down in big gulps.
While this huge pile of stinking cow shit played on TV's nationwide and designed so that the neo-cons can sleep better at night, our nations soldiers, the ones doing the fighting were recently denied a pay raise by moron*. But you can add that to the long list of other programs, for the soldiers and the vets, that have been cut or underfunded by the draft dodger*.
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from this war has caused a major increase in the amount of homeless vets on the street. Where is the TV shows about them? Were are the 3rd rate actors bleating out their under rehearsed lines for them? Where are the corporate sponsors to feed these men and weapon who have given life, limb and mind for the glorious cause to fuel the upper 5%'s monstrous SUV's with more gas?
I am sick to my stomach watching how our nation chews up and spits out our soldiers. And this mock tribute only puts a fine point on it.

1. What did Presdent Monkeynuts say yesterday? It was something to the |
|
the effect of "all the new fallen leaders/heros" or some bullshit like that.
There aren't any leaders over there. There are no Washingtons, Grants, or Pershings there. The only thing that is there now are a bunch of weary targets.

2. I don't think neocons would have liked the show. |

I don't know what you watched, but the one I watched told stories of fallen soldiers and letters to family members. It was hard to watch ,but not for the reasons you state.I don't see how anyone made any money off of it,there were no commercials and nobody pays to watch. The celebrities give their time for free. I'm very cynical, but I think you may need a pill buddy. It is a tribute to the soldiers as witnessed by all the retired and discharged soldiers in attendance. Not much blue blood in that crowd. So take a pill and relax focus your anger at some worthy offense.
