* lifts mountain bike for photogs (May 5). Pics.
I must have missed this event - found the photo reading my stack of unread Plain Dealers. I apologize if these were posted previously.

US President George W. Bush poses with hie mountain bike before going for a ride at the Secret Service training facility in Beltsville, Maryland.

U.S. President George W. Bush makes remarks on the importance of physical fitness with members of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports at the Secret Service Training Facilty at Beltsville, Maryland, May 5, 2007.

Why are the bikes on stands in the first and third photo?

19. when scolding the nation about its flabbiness, isn't it customary ...
... to suck in one's gut?

He isn't even trying anymore!

23. It's not a flak vest. You can see, in the center of the flab, where his
gross old bellybutton is. Jesus. I need bleach for my eyes.

31. What a beautiful image!
Thanks so much -- you've completely freed me from the bother of making dinner tonight. I've lost my appetite! (I'm so queasy that I'm not even going to speculate on whether he's an "innie" or an "outie".)

Mammals have bellybuttons. I think he's something else.

7. Just wondering about the stands. Are they normally used to display
bikes up in the air like that when they are not being worked on? It looked like this was just done for *'s photo op.

10. They're a normal part of any large ride
They made the mechanics get out of the photo shoot. I honestly don't see any big deal about it. Promoting cycling is one of the only thing * does that I approve of.

14. Thanks for the reply. I have followed the Tour de France for years until
they moved to Outdoor Life Channel which I cannot afford. I had never seen the bikes displayed in that manner. I learned something new. TY.

5. It's SuperLiarMan
Yes, it's SuperLiarMan - strange visitor from another zoo who came to Washington with powers and abilities far below those of mortal men. SuperLiarMan - who can ignore the course of mighty investigations, bend the truth with his bare lies, and who, disguised as George Bush, ill-mannered Decider for a great metropolitan elite, fights the never ending battle for Lies, Injustice and the Republican Way.

The only copters (or planes for that matter) that are allowed over DC is the President's. And I saw a copter flying back to the White House, either to pick him up or take him I guess. Great exercise George :sarcasm:

I mean...c'mon - look at the guy! Sure, he's in shape compared to, say, Denny Hastert, but he's not exactly triathlon-ready!

That top-of-the-line Trek is probably not much over 21-22 lbs., so holding it like that is no great feat.

I ride a mountaion bike on every surface so that there's little risk of breaking it.

16. Get away from my sport, Divider!
It's the one thing I live for. I breathe mountain biking. I'm really disturbed that the Divider is even focusing his attention on it.

Yeah, those stands are a joke. I've got one in my bedroom where I put the bike after riding so I can pull the chain and work on it. But that's nothing more than a photo op for Trek.

Actually, I'm not worried. Bush would never set foot on one of my rides. He'd drop dead from overexertion. I ride to get away from my thoughts of the Divider, and people like him.

I'm supposed to be riding now.

22. I know how you feel, Gregorian
Bush brags about how he started long-distance running in the 1980s -- and now his toadies act if he invented it. Never mind many of us who were out pounding the pavement in the 1970s, braving car exhaust and smartass remarks (probably from guys like him!).

Have a good ride. I would like to see him eating dust one of these days, when you -- and my boss, who is in Bush's age group and regularly goes on 500-mile rides -- zip past him, going uphill. (My boss is a solid Dem who started working for the UN a couple of years ago, and was appalled when someone at the White House called his office and tried to make him do what they wanted ... they started out accusing him of being unpatriotic, and ended with a veiled threat against his parents and in-laws who still live in the States.)

Is he advertising for Cargill?

His GUT is BIG for a supposedly "Fit" P-Resident!

I guess his knee is giving him trouble again. And for those who have knee problems, I understand we shouldn't be hard on him...he suffers. Deprived of his jogging he has to do the MT. Bike Thingy...but it just isn't enough to get rid of the gut. What's a Poor Fellow /P-Resident to DO? :eyes:
