"You can't do that if you're keeping secrets about your own adulterous affairs." He added that the impeachment trial was another of his "proudest moments." The difference between his own adultery and Gingrich's, he said, "is that I was no longer committing adultery by that time, the impeachment trial. There's a big difference." He added, "Also, I had returned to Christ and repented my sins by that time.

So he cheated on his wife too?

But that is the nature of Grace. It's not about moral propriety or even a moral code. Its a gift and there is nothing that can be done to earn it.

That is not to say repentance does not have to be real...genuine....but neither is it to stay that it has to be everything all at once. We can not clean ourselves up. A righteous life is typically gained incrementally.

I have little doubt that DeLay is a mean SOB who has in many way a very cold heart, but if he claims to have repented from adultery, then I applaud the repentence.

It's an undeserved gift from God. That undeserved gift is the urge to do the right thing without malice. When saved, sin may not be vanquished but malice certainly is. Anyone can say they've repented. I for one don't believe it for a second due to his past and present actions. It looks more like scoring political points to get a one-up on Gingrich for steward of the party.
