The overwhelming likelihood is that the 40-strong group which snatched five Britons from the Iraqi capital's Finance ministry yesterday were not just terrorists dressed up as police, they were the real thing.

Iraq's police force, like its army, trained and equipped by the Americans and British, is part of the huge bloody, horrible joke which the country is playing upon George Bush and Tony Blair.
