Why Biden (And Us) Should Endorse No One
I'd seen that thread about biden possibly endorsing clinton. I feel that is a mistake. I think, more importantly, it is significant that supporters of the three serious contenders (biden, dodd, richardson) endorse no one who is left. john edwards was possibly the closest in the area that he's willing to fight the republicans rather than make nice with them.

its firmly established at this point that biden is THE foreign policy guru of the democratic primary. while the others are arguing over childish handshakes, biden is keeping his eyes firmly on the ball in nations like pakistan and iran. he's established himself as a man that republicans defer to or refuse to take head-on. in that sense, biden would have been the perfect candidate in the general. its because of this I feel it is important for us to support and endorse none of the two front runners. as well as urge supporters of bill richardson and chris dodd to do the same.

the simple fact is neither of them have PROVEN anything to DESERVE it. they've both demonstrated an almost naive world view of problems, not to mention a willingness to try to negotiate with republicans from a position of weakness. republicans DO NOT negotiate unless you can brow beat them as effectively as biden does.

any endorsement from us and our candidates also ties us to their failed foreign policy blunders which are sure to come. I think it is important that we not only stick to our guns but also email senator biden asking him to support this of endorsing "no one" and simply pledging to support the democratic candidate in the general. its become obvious to me that I cannot bring myself to throw my support behind any of them and I feel that joe also is having the same turmoil himself. our trepidation and instincts on this matter have been there since joe left the field. I think now its important to keep that going as the field has narrowed to a choice between two decent, but otherwise uninspiring candidates with shakey credentials at best. to not tie our hands with bad choices and simply work with the party as a whole without compromising our values for what could be a choice between bad or worse when it comes to the general.

just wanted to say that and share with the rest of you.

1. I sincerely hope that Biden does not endorse anyone
Things have become divisive enough and an endorsement from him would only contribute to the situation. I don't think the party benefits when well known senators openly back a candidate and it comes across as purely for political gain, political gain that Biden does not need.

2. great post, and I agree
Biden will end up working with both of them in the future - some combination of them in the senate and/or white house. He would have nothing to gain by endorsing one of them.

I hope Biden sits next to Obama at some Senate event so people stop the Clinton assumptions. They ought to both be courting the hell out of him, not him rushing to please either of them.

And yeah, Biden is so far beyond them on foreign policy I can barely stand to listen to either them or him because the contrast is so upsetting. Listening to him speak the Afghan. policy hearings this week was that weird mix of uplifting and depressing.

4. I Agree!
I hope he stays out of the fray, nothing to loose by sitting on the fence. I've decided Biden all the way.... I'd be going against my principals to do otherwise. At least he'll know he gets one write in vote on election day...count or not, who cares. I will have voted for the best!

5. I hope he doesn't because I don't want him to influence me.
Sure, I'd like to say - oh no - he would have no influence on me.
But I trust his judgement, and I would question my choice if his was different than mine.

7. Check this out

When I first saw that O would be in DE, I of course immediately thought of Joe.

It occurred to somebody else that he might be going there for an endorsement. Why else would a candidate go to DE?

Please, God, no. My stomach is in a knot. Talk me down.

9. I don't know... I asked if anyone on the other thread knew anything
couldn't tell if they were joking about Gore or not - there are plenty of comedians on here but also people way more connected than me.

DE ain't nowhere near the other states on the list.

Delaware folks - anyone/anything else there?

11. Well I'm breathing a sigh of relief -- I am hoping it's a follow-up to her visit.
Again, I just can't PICTURE Joe endorsing anyone. We'll know on Sunday....

12. I still don't know what to think - not many delegates
Maybe he's trying to arrange a trip to NJ or something. But, yeah, will be interesting to keep listening...

Hmmm, I don't know what to think!
