Something I think we can agree on

I think despite it all, history is being made today. I think joe is looking on, despite not being in the race still, and smiling.

2. I DISAGREE!
History is being made at what cost to the party and the country. 44 Americans have lost their lives to war since January. We are no closer to ending the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan is going to escalate, Pakistan is becoming more unstable, the economy is in a free for all and all we care about is making history with a black or a women candidate. PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Shall we all sing Kumbaya and roast marshmallows around the campfire, or are we going to get back to the seriousness of Biden's message early on in the campaign. Biden's busting his behind in the Senate, while everyone on DU is looking at personalities and messages of Hope. Hope for what?
Here's what I hope.....that a real revolution takes place and that a serious candidate steps forward and says enough! I'm so disappointed in the Democratic party I may have to bail...I feel Obama's trying to re-fight the civil rights of the 60's and Clinton wants to relive the 90's. Who's going to guide us through 2008 and beyond? Think about it.

4. And I agree with that, too. As the old Seattle Seahawks coach used to say

though, gotta play the hand you're dealt. Even though I've never been good at that.

What absolutely tears me apart and makes me burn with rage is that not only have we been manipulated and choreographed into the situation we're in, most of us were unaware that it was happening, and even now, huge majorities of people don't believe it. And those of us who do, wail and keen, but usually to no avail. Our reps do what THEY can, and this President just rides roughshod over them as though they didn't even exist.

I've had a bumper sticker on my car for the past 4 years that says "stop bitching - start a revolution". This is probably what attracted me to Ron Paul in the beginning - a feeling of deep NEED to knock it all down and start all over. Fuck the rest of the world for the moment, we have to fix ourselves - we're broken.

We care about more than making history now - which is why we were for Joe - we were going for substance and someone who engaged us as partners.

That being said, despite all the horror and the deceit we've been subjected to, the fact that the people ARE considering a woman and a black man for President is indicative that more and more people have had it with the status quo. Granted, it's become a circus, but that the "celebrities" involved are a woman and an African American is saying a lot. It would have been unheard of not too many years ago. And even though we'd say "some day there will be a woman in the White House" (never even CONSIDERED the possibility of a black guy), I don't think too many of us believed it. I think people realize that our situation is serious -- just not HOW serious and how close we are to imploding.

I'm totally with you on the revolution. I would take to the streets and fight to return our country to what it was designed to be.

I just don't know how to accomplish that at this point in time. Joe was my hope for the first step.

When people talk about a brokered convention, even though I don't get it, a little hope in my heart goes "Biden!".

Honest to god, I'm praying that whoever gets in the WH WILL say enough! We know Joe, Dodd, Boxer and others are there doing what they can. And we need to get them more people in the Senate and Congress.

I don't know what else to do at this time.

But really, I deeply understand how you feel.

What should we do?

6. You said it all so well
This isn't the "historical" we were hoping for, but I think a lot of us are trying to see the positive side of all this.

5. That is the #1 reason why I am glad Biden is staying out of it.
Because whether it's Hillary or Obama in the WH ~ they are going to have to deal with a pumped up Joe Biden.
Biden just had hearings on Afghanistan. Things have gotten really worse over there. And I saw recently a piece where Biden was mumbling about southern India (?).

Better for him to stay neutral now so there are no hidden agendas later.
Think about it - if Biden endorsed Hillary and Obama won, Obama could think - thank you for the info Joe, but I'm going to check with Kerry on this. (nevermind that Biden was one of Kerry's top foreign policy advisors in '04) ~ same with Clinton and Clark.

There's alot to be done and I think Biden is playing it smart.

What concerns me is all these people that think either candidate is going to bring the troops home.
They BOTH have said that they want to get the troops out of Iraq and redeploy them to fight the Taliban and Al Queda.
(which needs to be done, imho).

7. P, Biden was probably referring to the sub-continent of India - which is

where Pakistan is.

I thought it was in the Middle East until somebody on DU told me. I had to look up "subcontinent!".

I'm finding out I learned NOTHING in school.

EDIT to include link to Wiki if you're interested...

8. A PUMPED UP JOE BIDEN YES!
I think it is more like an angry and hurt Joe Biden....The country let him down, but with that being said, he has the answers and no one is listening. My primary is over and anyone attending the next primaries, needs to get the serious questions front and center, no more free passes. The media needs to pick up on those answers. I'm exhausted watching this circus.
I do think Hillary better understands foreign policy and she Biden have a good working relationship. Maybe, just maybe, Bill will stay out of the way and let Biden take care of things. Obama will implode in office. He's not the guy that has the kind of experience or history it takes to have plan B ready on a moments notice. Redeploying troops by a President that doesn't have a full understanding of the consequences will only mean more needless deaths. I hope to hell that bringing our troops home is more than a talking point, it needs to be a well thought out plan, and I'm sure Biden has spent many sleepless nites doing just that.
I'm sorry I just can't get on the history making band wagon....not when so many lives are at stake.
