you'll notice how many people are missing the point completely.

I never got to go out and campaign for biden because my state followed the rules

all this crybaby shit going on is really an insult to those of us who didn't get to vote for the candidate we wanted. I had my whole family switched to biden and being a native american with family on the tribal council here, I'd have had a perfect venue for him to pick up votes

but was I given the chance to work for my candidate?

NO!

it really is a slap in the face to those of us who wanted to vote for the qualified candidates for president.

1. I agree, kicked and recd your first thread, but the other one is

2. I understand -
but I understand their feelings of frustration, too.

I think you nailed it when you said that with the current system, we're ALL disenfranchised to a certain extent. (That IS what you said, isn't it? :7)

I recommended.

3. I understand the voters' frustration
as they had nothing to do with the party's decision, but I'll always be a bit bitter that one small Midwest state robbed us of our opportunity to support our candidate. I hope future elections see dramatic changes in the primary system, but fear that much of this will be forgotten.

6. yeah, the one state goes first doesn't work
I also fear the problems of this year will be forgotten. Remember in 2000 how everyone felt charged up about the electoral college? Little progress there. I'm thinking that's where I will try to find a way to use any political energy I have in the future - working on primary and electoral college reform.

8. Not only that it was one little state - it was a caucus on top of it.
I'm not a fan of caucuses.

Maybe if they had a caucus - a chance for people to get together and try and sell people on their candidate - and then they got to vote.

I never will be able to erase from my mind watching that young girl in Iowa standing alone saying that she came to vote for Biden and wasn't going to change her mind. :(

9. I agree
I love the idea of a caucus as a forum for debate and discussion, but not for the actual vote. Before this election I hadn't even thought about the many people who wouldn't be able to attend their caucus or how people who to had voice their choice publicly and may feel intimidated. The many stories we've heard are disturbing in so many ways.

7. I'm glad you guys get it
I also think the primary system needs to be revamped and also the public financing system for primaries.

I mean, the fact joe wasn't given a chance to campaign in other states and had to compete with donors.

of course, the media made sure to take biden and dodd out as quickly as possible, then edwards and richardson were next on the table.

now we're stuck with two "not ready for prime time" players. I'm leaning towards obama but yeah, its just not the same.

Its really annoying because some idiot said, "well your vote wouldn't have counted anyways." uh, its the principle of the matter. isn't that something democrats are supposed to stand on, principles? NOOOOO!!!! ugh.
