4. I started watching his goodbye speech, but I couldn't do it.
I want to look at the other videos when I have more time.

I love listening to him.

2. Seems like a life time ago
How much everything has changed. I wonder if I'll ever feel the same way about anyone else.

3. I know - that's exactly how I feel.
It seems like it has been years, not months.

Biden was my perfect candidate :(

5. Class act, patriot, sincere individualist, and honest....
pass the tissues, please.

What a loss of opportunity. People can be so dense, and the media should be ashamed of themselves.

This election process needs to be legitimized. Right now its a dog show with only the preferred handlers in the ring, and the judges on the take.

It makes me sad, but also angry, and it's the anger that keeps my determination going. That's why election reform is so important. It was the first forum I visited when I started lurking around this place. Watching the returns in '04, I had such great hope, then that live footage of the lying weasel and weaselettes sitting in one of the rooms of OUR White House, smiling smugly, brought a wave of dread, and the following morning the dread was confirmed.

I knew the results weren't right, and I knew there had to be a reason. And DU election reform, Greg Palast, RFK Jr., Fitrakis, Wasserman, McKinney, and many others have provided the answers.

If we want fine, honest, and legitimate candidates like Biden to lead the country, then we have to provide an honest and legitimate process, so they can succeed. It starts with campaign finance reform, free and equal air time for candidates, public funds for campaigns, etc. Then elections must be transparent. No more secret counting and black box voting. And every citizen must have the right to vote...no more voter disenfranchisement.

There is so much to be done...

7. I remember the hope of 04
After four years of insanity, I thought "now comes the retribution, truth will prevail". Four more years was unthinkable and the media was completely ignoring the election irregularities that were being reported. That was when I discovered Keith Olbermann - the only mainstream journalist who would talk about it.

8. Damned good post livvy
Today I have been scanning the gd-p and read a lot of foolishness. Thank you for being so clear about what is happening in this campaign. You said "its a dog show with only the preferred handlers in the ring, and the judges on the take." That is how I feel only can't express so simply!

9. Wow, thank you!
Thanks for the complement.
I've been through the dog show routine, trying to get a championship for my dog. It was very frustrating. I wanted to handle him myself, but soon realized that it wasn't about the dog. It was all about the handler.

I then started using a really good handler, but not one of the known handlers. I got cut off from that handler by a breeder, who claimed her for her own, so I found another one. He was my nephew-in-laws cousin, and just happened to be a top handler (Westminster, etc.), though he'd never shown my breed. He was happy to show my dog, and did a great job.

As it turned out, my dog finished, got his championship, but it cost me a fortune. I'd seen dogs not half as good representatives of the breed beat him in the ring, before he got the preferred handler. I know of breeders who court judges, house them when in town, and wine and dine them. I even know of a breeder who dyed her bouvier, so it was a rich, deep black. You might wonder why no one turned them in. Well, just like whistle-blowers in our current corrupt government, they get blackballed. If you plan on breeding and showing dogs as a serious hobby, you don't make any waves. It's why I only finished one of my dogs. I didn't even bother to register my other two, because the AKC is corrupt just like our government.

I wasn't sure anyone would get the analogy when I posted. Glad you did.

10. Congratulations to your dog - even if you had to go thru all of that.
What kind of dog? I am a dog lover.

Your analogy was right on target. :patriot:

13. I have three bouviers.
Papa, Alexander; son, Roufous; and daughter, Maia. The kids have different moms.

This is Alexander relaxing in the tent we lived in when we went to shows. No high-priced, fancy mo-bile, homes for us! We were the usually the only tent on the premises, so we'd purty it up some with flags and banners, dangling lights, a traveling picnic table with a real fancy umbrella, and yards of x-pens, just to stake out our territory. At one show someone complained to the show chair that we were blocking the path to the rings, and should have to move to the back of the camping area. At another, someone cut us off from the electricity. It was October, and we woke up freezing in the middle of the night, because our portable heater had been disconnected. Ah...the good old days of dog showing. LOL

And this is the three of them playing in the last real snowfall we had this winter.

14. Now that's a COOL dog!
Showing dogs has got to take real dedication. I know nothing about the shows except what you see around the time the big ones like in NY, Westminster?, anyway, there will be extra stories concerning training, showing etc. and it isn't hard to tell that it's an "inside" game.

Those are beautiful dogs.
