Joe Biden is a genius and makes Lindsay Graham look like the sniveling little jackass he is |
|
If you haven't had the opportunity to see Senator Biden on Meet the Press w/Brian Williams search Youtube. He kicks Graham's ass on the Obama finance question, on Iraq/Afghanistan, on Obama Foreign Relations hearings, on McCain and war funding, and is charming as ever on the Vice-Presidency question.
And of course briefly (our Joe Biden??? :P) discusses Tim Russert's son Luke and Tim and Biden's own sons.
God I love that man!!! :loveya:

3. Yep, that and the slap-down regarding Obama's lack of sub-committee hearings were my favorites |
|
Graham just wiggled in his chair all proud of himself for getting the RNC's talking points out about Obama not keeping his word with the American people regarding public financing  I think the American people are more intelligent than the republican's believe us to be.
I also think Obama sending Biden out (a guy who'd been pushing for campaign financing reform FOREVER)to challenge Graham's idiocy on the subject was genius. How's the corporate funding of McCain's campaign going Lindsay????

Graham is beginning to look like he has fleas with all his fidgeting and twitching. What was he thinking when he agreed to go on with Biden? He should have known better.

Because Joe handed it to him on a platter.

6. It really irritated me that Williams made such a big deal out of the VP thing. |
|
I don't know what was so hard to understand about what Biden said. He's not interested in the VP spot, but will take it if asked. Makes sense to me, and I don't see it as double-speak at all. I guess some folks have a hard time understanding Biden's loyalty and his willingness to do something he does not want to do in the best interest of the country.
That aside...Biden did himself and "us" proud. He is one sharp cookie. Our instincts in the primary were right on. He would have been a helluva Pres.

8. I agree -- I think we called it. |
|
Watching the clips I was so impressed by EVERY response and argument he gave.
When Joe's on, he answers the questions and has a dialogue with the interviewer, rather than listening to the question, and inserting the party line in lieu of an honest reply.
It bothered me that when Joe was making the point about it taking 10 years before we'd SEE any oil from off-shore drilling, that Williams didn't follow up on that.
That's the bottom line, I think -- we need help NOW, and this isn't it.
God, he's amazing.

14. I was irritated with the way Williams wouldn't get off of Obama's flipping on |
|
campaign finance. Biden gave a great answer, and then tried to get the subject changed to McCain's many, many flip-flops on serious issues, but all Williams wanted to do was make Biden anser for why Obama did that. I kept yelling at the tv, saying "he answered you already".
BUT Biden is so quick thinking that he handled each and every question with a sharp answer and with class.

I was interested to see how he'd be against Graham. I've seen them on a show before and they were very nice and FRIENDLY to one another, and Joe is so charming, he had Graham eating out of his hand.

17. Totally agree -- TOTALLY fabulous! |

As always, Joe brings SUBSTANCE to the discussion. Lindsey Graham was beyond irritating and ineffectual.
And, as always, Joe tells it like it is. Admitted that this move didn't help the cause of campaign finance reform. AND (I loved this) when they played Hillary's statement about Obama changing his mind Joe said "Yes, I understand Hillary's statement. She was still competing. If I were still in the race I'd probably bring it up, too." Acknowledging that those in the race -- even our beloved Joe -- play those political games.

18. The simple, honest answer |

is generally the best, but it is so rare coming from a politician. That is one of the main reasons that Biden is so appealing. He just said what everyone on the planet knows, but no one else will say!

15. Yes. Finally to get the whole thing. I like at about 8:11 where Joe slips |
|
and begins to refer to the presumptive pug as "McShame". No, really. I swear. listen. Kid you not.
I think this was a tough assignment for Joe, or anyone for that matter. He did well. He's good. Really good.

given up the househunt for a while (long depressing story - $$ going to family members instead). Had a trip with another part of the family last week to D.C. and that was a nice break.

27. no - small children in tow and high security. |
|
The snipers walking around on the Capitol and White House carrying large weapons made quite an impression on my little nephew.
We didn't go in the Capitol - it was only tour groups allowed and long waits for that, which didn't work with little kids.
I just waved from afar. Quite a lot more security than when I was a kid in D.C. decades ago. Wonder how much of it is justified and how much terra hysteria.
