So that's what happened to the resolution Biden was trying to pass before the IWR vote.
I've been wondering why it never went to the floor, esp since it had bipartisan support:

Tom Daschle, a former Senate Majority leader, is widely liked in DC. He’s considered a lovely man, wise and with a wide network of supporters and loyalists that were fighting the Clinton wing of the party in the 1990s through Congress. Of course, Daschle is also known as a key supporter of the Iraq war, co-sponsoring and jamming through the Iraq War resolution, undercutting Joe Biden’s attempt to push a different resolution requiring UN authorization before the President was authorized to use force. It’s possible to see this as just a bad political decision, but there’s more behind the scenes.

His wife, Linda Daschle is a lobbyist for pharmaceutical industries, aerospace, and defense contractors. During her husband’s time as a key political leader within the Democratic Party, she pledged to remain independent of her husband’s work, but that kind of conflict of interest, with a Senate Majority leader married to a defense contracting lobbyist is pretty severe.

interesting, huh?

Funny, I never knew any of this about Daschle.

1. I wasn't "around" when Biden sponsored that resolution -
but I've heard him refer to it, as well as others referencing it as well.

It makes me even more proud that he DID see the potential problems, not too many others seemed to be that aware.

Too bad he ended up voting for it, but as always, his heart was in the right place.

2. Quite interesting
I knew none of this stuff either......is it true??....I guess at this point I have to assume it too be.
I never did like that guy.....he seemed so swarmy to me. Now I know why. Kinda makes me sick to my stomach he is going to get by with this crap.....
Just one more piece in the puzzle of who really runs this country....

6. I don't know about how true it is, but, I never could figure out why Biden's resolution didn't go
to the floor for a vote. It was Arlen Specter that spoke about it last year, saying that he wanted to vote for the Biden amendment but it never was voted on it. that was the first I heard about it.
I did some online research on it and never found an answer until this.

8. I don't doubt the truth of it.
I really don't doubt this did happen.
After what I have been reading the last couple of days.........the Senate and House appears to be more of a den of vipers than I could even imagine. I probably shouldn't have said what I did about Daschle. If this is true....I'm not sorry I did.
I trust Joe....I know this sounds like someone else, but I'm saying it anyway...I've shook his hand and looked into his eyes. I have absolutely no doubt he is an honest man. As each day passes it sickens me more that others couldn't see that he was the one....the one to clean out this den of vipers.......

11. I can't believe that Pelosi knew about the illegal wiretapping.
Lucky you for getting the opportunity to shake Biden's hand and got the opportunity to look into those eyes. I'm jealous!

I agree that Biden is an honest man and would have been the best for the country.
Sometimes I think that was what was wrong with his campaign. He sucked at playing the game.
He would never ask for money or support. Instead of telling people what they wanted to hear, he told them the truth. Sigh.... Well, we got the candidate the people wanted and now we all have to rally around him and just hope that Obama will give Biden a cabinet position. I'm hoping it's SoS.
Watching Biden at the Pakistan hearings I was thinking that Biden must be frustrated. He knows so much, has so much understanding about foreign affairs and yet is so limited in his power.

3. I remember some of this from his book,
but I don't recall that Daschle was involved. Maybe Biden didn't mention his name. I loaned the book to someone, so I can't go back and look it up.

4. very interesting. I was less political back then, but Daschle was not an impressive Dem. leader.
I'm surprised when people say he should be VP or chief of staff or anything for Obama.

5. I think Daschle was as bad a Reid.
Why do we always end up with these wimps as leaders?

Biden would be an excellent leader, so would Dodd.
Here's to hoping they make a change soon and we get someone with some fortitude in that position that is not afraid to stand up to the repukes.

9. I mentioned that a few weeks ago
I would love to see Joe as Senate majority leader. I think he might do more good there than anywhere else. Just wishful thinking....I know....
