Anyone see this in the WaPO, Joe not contacted by Kennedy or Holder? (VP vetters)
"Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (Del.), believed to be high on Obama's list, said in an interview that he had not been contacted by Kennedy or Holder."

1. I posted something like that a few days back --
that he said he had not been contacted.

My thoughts: 1) Obama has promised him SOS. 2) Obama doesn't want to look like he's begging Joe after Joe emphatically told the world he does. not. want. the. job. 3) He's practically already vetted - there's not much about Joe that isn't available for public consumption. 4) Hell if I know.

What do YOU guys think? WHY wouldn't Obama be interested in Joe? He makes so much more sense than so many others that have been named (guessed at).

This quote from that article makes me believe that Joe may really be needed to help the ticket in November

Sources close to the campaign said Obama also is intrigued by several political veterans, including Biden. The senator from Delaware has said emphatically on numerous occasions that he is not interested in the job, but he has many advocates, including powerful Clinton backers who valued his neutrality during the primary, as well as numerous Senate colleagues.

"He should go for experience," said Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.). "In my state, someone like Biden would send a very strong signal. It would add a lot."

2. I think Biden summed it up
when he said he had never had a boss and I think Obama is aware that Biden would not be comfortable in position where he had to suppress his opinions. Obviously Joe would be much better suited as SOS.

3. Agree -- BUT
(and I can't believe I'm actually thinking along these lines) -- what if Joe on the ticket w?ould give Obama an ENORMOUS advantage to win in Nov?

Joe said he'd of course accept if Obama presented him with that argument. If it comes down to Obama/Biden STRONG chance of winning compared to Obama/???? FAIR chance of winning, then what? I'm torn. (Like I'm going to be consulted :eyes:)

8. I'm torn as well
And for the same reasons. Part of me wants Biden to be the VP, but I think it is more the emotional part.

4. I don't think Obama would ask Joe to supress his opinions. I think
they are framing the landscape. When he picks Joe (and I think he will), everyone will know what the lay of the land is. Joe will be a ginormous asset to the campaign, and to the administration. I don't see a SOS having anymore leeway in expressing his opinions than would the VPOTUS. Am I wrong about that?

7. For some reason, I don't think he'd be as tightly constrained as SOS.
A VP is practically a Charlie McCarthy for the Prez, don't you think? (Except for Cheney.) I'm not sure they can express any differences of opinion. Whereas with SOS, I can see Joe saying "The President and I have some differences of opinion on this, but we're working them out" or something like that. :shrug;

Plus, bottom line, he'd be the BOSS of the State Department.

I think it's more prestigious than Veep, unless the Veep is just in there waiting for his turn.

12. Exactly, whether you are VP or SOS
I think you have to coordinate with the Prez.

5. The guy that was first doing the Veep interviews, that left the Obama camp,
(I don't remember his name) met with Biden and was impressed with him.

What was his name? Anyway, it is weird that Biden hasn't been contacted by Caroline or Holder.

hmmm.

13. I still think he is the tops for VP
although I wish he were running for Prez. Despite frequent protests from the morons in GDP that can't mention anything other than plagiarism or bankruptcy bills. :banghead: :grr:
