Biden's view on impeachment |
|
I posted this thread as I think his approach is correct. I especially like the fact of considering criminal charges. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3550833

1. Gateley - I owe you an apology. |
|
I saw your thread.
I posted the same thing a couple of months ago - and got the same exact response you are getting.
I am really trying to get things done around the house.
I will help you later.
I know you need help over there.:pals:

3. No! No WAY do you owe me an apology -- I stirred up that hornet's nest |
|
myself and I knew what I was opening myself up to. I was just surprised at the amount of activity it generated.
A VERY intelligent DUer, Biden Supporter tsegat, arrived to bring an additional Biden-like voice of reason and sanity with her posts (and to be honest by that time I'd kind of started hollering at people -- but politely). I know you were there in spirit!
As I was telling her, I was REALLY enjoying it! And rather than becoming apoplectic and just blowing it off, I kept laughing!
As a matter of fact, my new BFF Atman, the guy who started the first flame by calling Biden a lilly-livered Vichy Dem -- and I are currently engaged in a respectful dialogue. He's actually taken the time to respond to other questions I've asked him -- I knew he he was a good guy and I wasn't taking ANY attacks personally.
I'm half-ass tempted to post it again in another few months just to see what happens then!
Hold me back.

2. Interesting thought gateley.... |
|
What if during the debate Biden brought up the subject of impeachment? That could possibly raise his poll rating Off the Charts or he could be bashed severely. The Dems have poor poll ratings due to nothing happening in Congress. We all know we don't have enough votes in the Senate but once the House called for impeachment, who cares what happens after that. The Dems look weak to far too many people. What does he have to lose or the Dems? Just wondering.
Bush is like a runaway freight train and no one can stop him. 1 1/2 more yrs of him, Ugh!

4. Well from the responses in the above-mentioned thread, that indicates to |
|
me that people feel so passionately about this, they wouldn't really hear his reasons. He might lose as many supporters as he'd gain.
You have a good point of why not just call for it. I've actually heard someone speak -- don't know if it was in the Congress or Senate -- on impeachment. At the best, the impeach-him-now school would say "at least they're trying" or there's always the very real possibility that the Dems would look even weaker.
I agree about Bush. It's just mind-boggling and inexplicable. He's like the un-dead.

5. When Biden suggested that "We would effectively be paralyzed |
|
for the next 6 months or longer." All I could think of was, great. Anything to get bush's mind off of bombs and more about his own hide!! It would be so much fun watching bush for once in his life have to defend his actions.
Someone of Biden's importance would truly get people's attention. Conyers and others have tried and were beaten down by their Superiors.
It isn't fair to dump impeachment on one person, such as Biden. I just feel he is someone who could get respectful attention. What do I know? I do so admire him and this is something that I believe would be a winning proposition for him - and America.
