Chile warns Honduran ambassador against supporting interim gov't
2009-07-07 10:02:01

SANTIAGO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Alberto Van Klaveren has warned Honduran ambassador in Santiago Francisco Martinez to "face consequences" after the latter hinted his support to the interim Honduran government led by Roberto Micheletti.

"If the Honduran ambassador considers himself a representative from the interim government, we are going to review his situation. We do not accept representatives from the interim Honduran government, that is our policy, and we are going to act according to that policy," Van Klaveren said Monday.

"We are not going to accept representatives from the interim government and if someone is identified as a representative of the interim government, he will have to face the consequences," Van Klaveren said.

Martinez told local daily El Mercurio de Santiago published on Monday that Chile has decided to sever its diplomatic ties with Honduras till ousted President Manuel Zelaya returns to office.

"The Chilean ambassador was called to give a report, we are not going to have any ties with the interim government, we severed our diplomatic ties," Van Klaveren said.

"We think this is a matter of time. These processes are complex, are difficult. The situation over there is difficult, but here the international community is reacting in a solid way," Van Klaveren added.

2. Here is what the idiot ambassador told the reactionary newspaper El Mercurio

Francisco Martinez on the left

-- That the de facto regime was a "government of transition."
-- That it had "great political support" in the interior of Honduras.
-- That Honduras is prepared to go it alone without international support.
-- He justified the coup d' etat saying "there was a very fundamental fear" that Zelaya would impose "a leftist totalitarian model."
-- Martinez also criticized the actions of the OAS (which of course is headed by Jose Insulza, a Chilean lefty who was student leader in the Allende government and who had to go into exile for 15 years under the Pinochet dictatorship. Not too smart to criticize Insulza in Socialist Bachelet's Chile.)

I counted 48 comments on the article, and EVERY ONE called for Martinez to be declared persona non grata or to be expelled from Chile immediately.

From La Nacion newspaper of Santiago:

3. Kick the opportunistic weasel out
Zelaya's political party turned against him when he sided with the workers and the poor.

4. "Government of transition." Now that's one for the books.
You can be sure they'd have to break into their homes and drag them off before they relinquish the same power they have stolen by force.

Liar, clown, criminal.

Glad to hear there was an outpouring of disgust and repudiation for this loser in the comments. He earned them all, and more.
