1. Hoping he will be able to function and have the time & space necessary
to do his important work, without additional stress, pressure, or any hint of trouble, and return home safely.

You bet, we have thought about him, as well, hoping for his protection, and the success of their work.

Thanks, Billy Burnett.

3. Best wishes to Mike for successful work, and hope he gets a few moments to
enjoy his travels, and of course to report back here on any interesting cultural, political (hint: Honduras) or other news.

4. MIKA! We are very happy to know the kind of work you are doing in
Nicaragua and how much it must mean to the children and families. Please take care of yourself and we look forward to your return and the stories you will hopefully share with us.

Venceremos! Amandla!

5. Note to all the bashers of lefties
Actually helping people is something that lefties like to do, whether writing a check or doing it in person.

6. Oh, right-wingers also do things for Latin Americans. They want to hire them as cheap labor.
They also want to help them all to be right-wingers or die.

9. Yes. When they can.

Good comment, eridani. To be fair though, much of the team that Mika is working with are high income doctors and most vote for tax cuts. There are some repugs who have a soft spot in their hearts too, no matter how misinformed they might be. Mika is not working with a communist cadre of cleft palate surgeons, and that is an impressive aspect of it, imo. Most donated tens of thousands of dollars each in supplies and equipment needed. A full group of assistants and lab techs too. A hell of a group of people.

For a while they put aside their politics and focus on doctoring.

This is their summer vacation. :toast:

:hi:
