Optimism at the Mesa Redonda with the Honduras Ambassador
Edited on Tue Jul-21-09 10:13 PM by flamingdem
The Honduran Ambassador to Cuba was saying that they believe that the actions of the golpistas woke the people up. Many who were apolitical are firmly supporting Zelaya now. The golpistas have zero support and that the Honduran people are so firmly decided, well the resistance, that they are practically fearless. As much was stated by Xiomara Zelaya.

It could end up being a kind of win-win. A nice blow against the ultra right. The Cuban side was supportive of Obama, it's nice that they are open minded and recognize the forces at work and that not everything is "bajo su voluntad" -- or a question of Obama's own will.

I think the final straw was the withdrawal of support from the EU and the hint of withdrawal of the whole enchilada from the US.
