"Hey look it's a wingnut fiesta in Florida this weekend, as all of the biggest "prophets," "psalmist'" and "apostles" from some fucktard religious sect all descend on Miami at once to pray for the end times and await the second coming of, um...Special Guest Generalisimo Romeo Vasquez??

The presence of the Honduran coup regime's A-#1 top human rights ballbreaker in Miami poses about a zillion fascinating questions, such as:

* This guy can get into our country?

* He's prioritized taking time off from his demanding dictatorship to meet with this loon squad?
* The same weekend that Zelaya is maybe returning?

* Will he finally beat out insanely racist Honduran "justice minister" Enrique Ortez for most embarrassing coup official?

* Seriously, Lanny, WTF?

Obviously this will be the awesomest conference of all time. Confidential to Miami operatives: stories, pictures, go.

1. Perfect timing for a coup against the golpista generalisimo ??

Mel yesterday said he had gotten calls from some army officers that there was tremendous pressure on them to repress the people. Even threats of execution if soldiers did not follow orders.

So, this would be the time for some of those officers to rebel against Romeo, ya think? }(

Banish Romeo forever to Little Havana in Miami?

3. You couldn't say he doesn't have it coming, after all. The timing is VERY odd, isn't it?
He's nice and safe in Miami, all right. He's on the side of all the criminals there. He's among friends!

This is really getting stranger and stranger, rabs.

WTF are these guys?

How many Americans know that the Guatemalan butcher dictator Efraín Ríos Montt, a man who killed entire villages in his country, with the blessings of US Congressmen and Ronald Reagan, conducted torture of "leftists" overseen by CIA people, as per surviving witness accounts, was HIMSELF a "man of Gawd?????"

How is it this convicted car thief/SOA graduate/killer of Honduran citizens is posturing as some kind of enlightened being in a crowd of conspicuous fast-talking, money-grabbing, ignorance exploiting grifters like these guys? Do they think we're all complete idiots, do they think ANYONE with a functioning brain would swallow this crap?

One look at this poster tells you everything you believed about these maggots is TRUE. They ARE this ugly, this stupid, this greedy.

Rios Montt was by this time a lay pastor in the evangelical protestant Church of the Word. In his inaugural address, he stated that his presidency resulted from the will of God. He was widely perceived as having strong backing from the United States' Reagan administration. He formed a three-member military junta that annulled the 1965 constitution, dissolved Congress, suspended political parties, and canceled the electoral law. After a few months, Rios Montt dismissed his junta colleagues and assumed the de facto title of "President of the Republic." Guerrilla forces and their leftist allies denounced Rios Montt. He sought to defeat the guerrillas with military actions and economic reforms -- in his words, "rifles and beans." In May 1982, the Conference of Catholic Bishops accused Rios Montt of responsibility for growing militarization of the country and for continuing military massacres of civilians. General Rios Montt was quoted in the July 18, 1982, New York Times as telling an audience of indigenous Guatemalans, "If you are with us, we'll feed you; if not, we'll kill you."

5. Ay, Rios Montt
The death toll in the late 70s - 80s in Guatemala was over 250,000.

4. I love me some BoRev!
And, as usual, BoRev nails it (so like the Daily Show, when the corpo/fascist 'news' and academic noses are up their corpo/fascist and academic asses). Zelaya headed for Honduras*--with Vasquez in Miami!

*(Arias today saying he must be re-instated.)

Next: Can Honduras hold a clean election with over 1,000 leftist activists in jail? Where will they find international election monitors to "certify" the vote? Miami?

Okay, okay, there may be some honest people in Miami, but you know what I mean. Elections three months away, Zelaya barred by term limits and everybody who might run a leftist campaign in jail or in hiding? A bit of a mess for Jimmy Carter & co.

6. To go from prison to head of the military even in Honduras requires
a good sense of timing.

7. Why DUers should worry about the 'Kingdom Government'
a totally theocratic fascist government where workers become mere slaves of the capitalists, for the glory of Christ of course!
