VIDEO:Cuban 5,Guerrero Painting Expo, 7/9,DC- VEN emb w/Chief, Cuban Int. Sect and Jose Pertierra
Since this 8 minute video is in English, I thought folks might like to view it so they can see some of Antonio's artwork and hear from both Venezuelan and Cuban diplomats including the Chief of the Cuban Interests Section,Jorge Bolanos, perhaps the most experienced and revered ambassador in the Cuban diplomatic corps.

In addition, Jose Pertierra gives a presentation. For those of you not familiar with Jose, he is a Cuban-American attorney who is presently representing the Venezuelan government in a case to get the US to extradite Luis Posada Carriles (Cuban exile terrorist) back to Venezuela.

Also, Pertierra represented Jennifer Harbury. Harbury is an attorney who went to Guatemala in the 1980's when the oligarchy was brutally repressing the people, especially the Mayan population. While there, Jennifer met, fell in love with, and married Efrain Bamaca Velasquez, a Mayan resistance leader, whose nom de guerre was Comandante Everardo. He was captured by the death squads, tortured over a two year period, and then murdered. Jose assisted Harbury in her attempt to force both the US and Guatemalan governments to give her information about her husband. After years trying to get information out of the US government and the US claiming it knew nothing, a State Dept. official leaked the information that the US knew all along what happened to her husband and that two men on the CIA payroll participated in his torture.

And by now, you are wondering why I'm telling you all this. Jose Pertierra, in 1996, because of the help he was giving to Harbury, woke up one morning to a bomb that went off on his doorstep. No one was hurt, but he is certain it was the work of Guatemalan death squads.

1. "They came to this country to PREVENT crime, not to commit it." That expression should stick
in anyone's mind who have known of this hideous treachery exacted against these 5 heroes.

Can only hope, from now on that events will turn in their favor and they will get to go home.

Didn't know the guy was talented artistically. FAR more beautiful paintings than Luis Posada Carriles, whose cohorts they had hoped to thwart in their future plans for murder of Cuban citizens.
