Good Honduras Protest at State Dept. this Afternoon
I attended the Honduran protest at the State Dept. this afternoon at 4PM. By my count there were about 50 protesters. We protested in front of one of the main entrances to the building. Many organizations participated: CISPES, FMLN, Code Pink, and Hondurans for Democracy. Our presence drew eight uniformed federal police officers and five civilian State Dept. security staff.

Hondurans for Democracy read aloud a letter addressed to Hillary Clinton that demanded Zelaya be reinstated, that requests made in President Zelya's letter to President Obama be honored, that the State Dept. review a list of human rights abuses compiled by three different human rights organizations, that Amb. Hugo Llorens be withdrawn, etc. After the letter was read, a State Dept. employee came out to accept the letter on Clinton's behalf.

The protest was lively with many toots of car horns expressing solidarity. My favortie sign was: Militares, no mas muertos por sus fusiles. No more dead for your guns.

We left the State Dept. at 5 PM and marched a few blocks towards George Washington University. Our final chant was: Mel, amigo, el pueblo esta contigo!

3. We must pressure Obama Administration to close SOA at Fort Benning
Liberals fumbled the ball by giving Bill Clinton a pass on SOA, and buying his bullshit argument that changing the name of the school and putting Wes Clark in charge would turn the school of assassins into some sort of convent.
