(New Info - as of 7:40 PM edt) OMINOUS UPDATES on Zelaya's Family Travel to Border
Edited on Tue Jul-28-09 06:41 PM by magbana
Below is an update from El Frente Nacional Contra El Golpe that came out about 35 minutes ago. Could someone please check on my translation. I want to make sure it is precise, since the news is a bit daunting.

Even more updates these between 7:15 and 7:30 PM

# Primera dama llama a mantener la resistencia, "La lucha no es por Mel, es por el futuro de hondureños para no dejarnos pisotear otra vez". 7 minutes ago (The First Lady calls for maintaining the resistance, "The struggle is not for Mel, it is for the future of Hondurans so that they don't trample on us again.)

# En la ciudad de El Paraiso, bajo la lluvia y frente a manifestantes, Alcalde y Primera Dama llaman a no ceder ante los militares opresores. 13 minutes ago (In the city of El Paraiso, the rain is coming down right on the protesters, the Mayor and the First Lady are saying not to give in/give way before the military oppressors.)

These about an hour ago:
# Momentos de tensión se viven en la ciudad del El Paraiso, Se teme que hagan otro secuestro a la familia del presidente de la república. 25 minutes ago (Tense moments for those living in the city of El Paraiso. There is fear that they could make another kidnapping of the family of the President.)

# Primera dama y familia presidencial temen sean sacados del país. Alcaldía municipal de El Paraiso rodeada por miles de manifestantes. 27 minutes ago" (The first lady and the presidential family fear that they are being taken out of the country. The municipal mayorality of El Paraiso has surrounded the protesters for miles.)

Telesur just showed the First Lady getting into the driver's seat of a van and at the bottom it said First Lady leaves for border with "uncertainty."

Also, here is Cuba News Agency Article about the Zelaya Family going to the Border

Zelaya’s family authorized to head for Nicaraguan border

HAVANA, Cuba, July 28 (acn) The family of Honduran constitutional
president Jose Manuel Zelaya has been authorized by the de facto regime
to continue its journey to the Nicaraguan border, after being surrounded
by a military post for four days.

Xiomara Castro, his wife, two of his children, and the mother of the
head of state, travelled in a caravan from the Honduran municipality of
Jacalaepa, in El Paraíso, to the border post of Las Manos, where Zelaya
has been since Friday.

Zelaya expressed his satisfaction for being able to meet up with his
family again, which was possible –he said- thanks to a court order, the
Prensa Latina news agency reports.

The reunion of the head of state with his family will take place in the
Honduran border with Nicaragua one month after the military coup
perpetrators forcibly took him out of the country and sent him to Costa
Rica, from where he left in an aircraft in his first attempt to return
to Honduras.

1. Telesur just interviewed Xiomara Castro and showed footage of her. It appears that at
various places along the route she is taking, the roads are blocked with medium-sized rocks in the road.

2. I just saw a clip of Xiomara Castro walking back and forth in front
of a bunch of military guys lined up and she is reading parts of the Honduran constitution to them. With index finger wagging insistently to help her make her point.

3. Fantastic, courageous first lady. So good to hear a court order got her the chance to join husband.
So many people will be watching. Hope this will help her stay safer, with her loved ones as well.
