Colombia says that had warned Venezuela about rocket-launchers

The Colombian government said on Wednesday that it had warned Venezuela, as early as last June 2nd, about the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) in possession of rocket-launchers made in Sweden and procured by the Venezuelan government.

César Mauricio Velázquez, the press secretary of Colombian President Álvaro Uribe, read out an official statement whereby his government tried to clarify the situation after renewed clashes with Venezuela following the claims.

Within the framework of the Tuxtla Summit held in Costa Rica, Velázquez emphasized that so far the only comment to be made by Colombia would be the 10-item statement.

The document reiterates that in October 2008, Colombian authorities seized three rocket-launchers in a camp of the FARC.

"Last June 2nd, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaime Bermúdez handed over to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during a reserved meeting in San Pedro de Sula (Honduras), a document showing that the FARC narco-terrorists were in possession of these rocket-launchers."
