At 38, Stansell was a former U.S. Marine employed by Northrop Grumman, a California company that had won an $8 million Pentagon contract to survey the jungles of southeastern Colombia.

Hmmm. An $8 million Pentagon contract to "survey the jungles" of southeastern Colombia? What for? Routine US ops/funded biochemical warfare? Routine logistical support for the Colombian military, or routine RW death squad assistance? Who knows.

So, if you are going to Colombia, and are on a "routine" Bush regime pentagon/military op, yes I imagine that it could be dangerous.
