...to the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the ADL, their outright, provable lies about the Chavez government being anti-Semitic caused me, for the first time in my life, to realize that these protectors of the Jewish people against pogroms and holocausts, are not reliable sources of information, and are allied with some of the worst and most fascist elements in our political establishment.
And if they have lied about Chavez--which they have provably done--what else are they lying about?
As the Jewish Confederation in Venezuela (the largest Jewish organization in the country) and others have said--and as this article says--if these defenders of the Jews are to effectively fulfill that purpose, they need to stop using accusations of anti-Semitism as a rightwing political tool, and, above all, they need to stop making shit up (as the rightwing is notorious for doing). And I would say further that they need to start bolstering progressive forces everywhere, here, in Latin America and elsewhere in the world, because when fascists gain power, and, as they always do, start scapegoating minority groups to hold onto and increase their power, Jews are always on the list of potential targets. When these fuckers release the Beast of racial hatred, that Beast can be turned on any group: immigrants, the brown, the black, women, gays, Arabs, Jews, you name it.
I have ceased to believe that the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the ADL speak for the majority of Jews. In fact, I really don't know who they speak for, except war profiteers and Bushwhacks. So, as I said, for what's it's worth, their credibility with me is in serious question. I hope they reform, or other groups take their place. I do think that their (ostensible) work is needed in the world. But they are gravely undermining that work by false accusations of anti-Semitism in furtherance of the corpo/fascist agenda.
