including Micheletti's and almost two hundred others (all those involved in the coup--Supreme Court, congress, military). Radio Globo report confirmed.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=405x22238It's beginning to look like the Honduran coup was one of the biggest miscalculations of our era, by fascist groups and their fascist U.S. supporters. That would likely have turned out to be true whatever the Obama administration did--because of the sheer strength of the leftist democracy movement that has swept Latin America. But this particular U.S. action--and some other recent actions (freezing funding)--is a good sign that whatever possibly brutal "hawk vs dove" struggle has been going on within the Obama administration, on Bushwhack war plans in Latin America, the "doves" have won it, at least for now, and Obama's promised policy of peace, respect and cooperation can now go forward.
Part of this junta's miscalculation--and of their supporters' (John McCain & Bushwhack cabal) miscalculation--may have been underestimating the people of Honduras. And I have to say that I myself underestimated them. I've been surprised--and overjoyed--by their amazing resistance to this coup, and their awesome grass roots organization. It gives the lie to all the corpo/fascist propaganda focusing on Zelaya--as if this were all about Zelaya. Every once in a while, even the most alert among us, those who try to stay informed, get sucked in by the brainwashing. This event has less to do with Zelaya--as our corpo/fascist 'news' monopolies have portrayed it--and more to do with the grass roots movement that has been pressuring and working with Zelaya all along, to achieve fundamental reform in Honduras. For instance, the advisory vote on forming a constituent assembly to rewrite the constitution was
their idea (I have recently found out, reading NarcoNews accounts from Honduras). Zelaya--a good public official--was
listening to them, and responding to the ideas and needs of the majority of Hondurans.
The junta provided the spark to this democracy revolution (another miscalculation of theirs), but it was there all along, and there is no better evidence of this than these massive strikes and protests that are occurring in Honduras
with Zelaya in exile. He may be their chosen leader, but his presence is
not necessary for the people of Honduras to be massively well-organized. And that does not happen overnight. And that does not happen without a passionate and widespread desire for fundamental reform, coming from many leaders and many groups all over the country, who have been quietly working on these issues for years.
Stupid me. But I forgive myself. I do try very hard to see through the bullshit in our controlled press.
