The 17 yr old boy killed at Coral Gables High came from Cuba 3 months ago. Alone. |

Lived with his abuela.
Ileana Ros on TV pushing for a rapid visa waiver to allow the mother who resides in Cuba to come and bury her child or retrieve her son's body.
Watching local news. Its a heartbreak to think of the horror. A well liked boy at school. Nice kid. Good manners. Learning english fast. The boy, Juan Carlos Rivera, fresh from Cuba. Now dead. Violently.
It is going to be difficult for the insane exiles to convince this poor mother that she should "defect" to the land of the free - a place to raise her kids in freedom and all of that opportunity. But they'll try.
:(
On edit: This was my high school.

1. What happened to the teen? |
|
Been gone for the past three days and missed the story. Racial attack? Gang attack? Had the impression that Coral Gables HS is an upper-class school.
Thanks.

2. Stabbed - news says "in a fight" a suspicious terms these days since reporters tend to be idiots |
|
Reading the article, it appears that this might actually have been a fight (unlike the recent school bus attack in Bellville IL) , supposedly over a girl whatever that means.
Here's something I found telling in the comments:

3. I saw her in a tv clip recently. She's a doctor in Cuba, and mad as hell, who can blame her? |
|
She is NEVER going to move here, and you can be sure of that.
She is heartbroken first, and furious, second. She spoke through a translator, and the room was hushed. They appeared to respect her deeply.
She's a very youthful, composed, controlled, intelligent, disciplined, attractive woman whose words flew out rapidly with great feeling, and great thought. She held together very well, but was totally angry as well as grief-stricken.
I missed your info. you went to high school there the first time I read your O.P.
I don't imagine that kind of thing happened then, did it!
