My observation of Miami's Juanes protests.
The local news stations were going gaga over the story, seemingly in hopes of covering confrontations.

The usual crowd of emotionally twisted exiles showed up in front of the long established center of RW exile demonstrations of outrage, the Versailles restaurant, with Vigilia Mambisa taking the lead.

What was unusual is that the Cuban expats and their children who are pro Juanes concert supporters outnumbered the intransigent RWers. By a significant amount.

The local TV reporters seemed to have a tough time getting anyone close to sane to make anti concert comments - yes, there were the usual interviews with Vigilia Mambisa's insane Miguel Saavedra and Laura Vianello who were incoherent, but, almost everyone interviewed under the age of 50 was supportive of Juanes and praised him for enduring the threats from Miami and going forward with the concert.

It was very interesting to see this turn of events.

But, if you search the talk radio dial in Miami you'll hear nothing but the most disgusting RW anti Cuba swill, including the local NPR affiliate (that partners with the Miami Herald). Within 30 seconds of scanning the dial on the weekend I learned that Juanes is a maricon, a communist, a fascist, a nazi, a rapist, Fidel's & Raul's bubble bath boy, and a supporter of murder and tyranny.

Despite the continuous river of hateful swill gushing from Miami's exile RW, the younger generation seem to be soundly rejecting it.

1. K & R! I saw that also.

I saw some video of confrontations at the Versailles, including some arrests for refusing to get off of the street (sw 8th st- Calle ocho).

I was amazed to see the pro Juanes crowds rigorous vocal confrontations with the old timers. It does seem to be a generational fight now. The young are tired of the family division and separation. They are going to Cuba to visit and being excoriated by the old guard for supporting Castro by doing so, and that is pissing them off big time. Now that they have been branded as Fidel lovers I think that many are having their eyes opened to the extremism of the old guard. They've had enough. And they're turning up to have their say. Good on them!

3. I felt that it had to be reported.

The new gen is showing up for a verbal fight. When Vigilia Mambisa's insane members call them traitors to their Cuban families in Cuba they shout right back at them.

Miguel Saavedra was off his farking rocker and could not be calmed down for any sane interview. He sees that his organization's days are numbered, and that the kids aren't buying the bullshit.

This is his standard interview posture ...

Miguel Saavedra, a supporter of free speech :sarcasm:

Almost always pissed off.

4. It will backfire on them, just like the Teabaggers
... after a while anyone with a brain can see they are anti-democratic fringe elements, if not outright fascists and white hood weekend warriors.

The young people in Cuba and Miami are saturated and don't relate to the old paradigm. The concert provided the vision.

Obama needs to get with it and make a gesture. How about more visas for musicians with quality rather than opportunists like Gorki. How about visas for doctors, scientists, anthropologists!?

5. Ha! That violent anti-Castro assassin, Rodolfo Frometa, from F4 Commandos
is looming near the middle, in the beard, in photo 7. Juanes should watch his back with Frometa on the job, when he gets back to Miami.

Great getting a chance to see there actually is a firm opposition to the original exiles now, Billy Burnett. Miguel Saavedra and Laura Vianello looked a little lonely driving their tiny steamroller over those Juanes CDs.

Thanks for these great images. Terrific!

6. Good catch, Judi.
That says it all.

A US based terrorist who brags about his, and his terrorist group's violent exploits in Cuba is in with the anti Juanes crowd.

Surprised Posada and Bosch didn't show. (Well maybe they did, and the Miami Herald didn't publish any pics of them. )
