S America-Africa summit condemns coup in Honduras (Reuters)
PORLAMAR, Venezuela, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Leaders attending the second South America-Africa (ASA) summit here approved Saturday a joint statement condemning the coup in Honduras.

Presidents and representatives of 61 countries in both regions have expressed their deep concern over the political crisis in Honduras, after the military coup led by Roberto Micheletti toppled the country's legitimate president, Manuel Zelaya ...

The ASA summit also stressed that it was imperative to ensure that the de facto regime in Honduras fully respects the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, including the sanctity and safety of persons who are within diplomatic missions ...

1. Pot calling the kettle black....
It's really amusing to see the likes of Kadafi, Mugabe, and Kabila criticize a military coup in Latin America. These African "leaders" are a bunch of tyrants and thieves.

3. The Southern Hemisphere is mostly water
Do I have general contempt for the Southern Hemisphere? of course not. It has a lot of water, and the skies are definitely prettier. On the other hand, if you ask me about meetings held by Latin American and African countries in which they issue this or that statement about democracy, then I do think it's pretty funny, because most African countries are run by thugs. I thought the idea of Kadafi signing up to a statement condemning a military coup was absolutely brilliant for a dark comedy, let's call it "Le Petite Charm d' les tyrans"

5. Kadafi's allies???
It's a far reach indeed to say Kadafi is a US ally. As for Britain, it's just the US poodle. When I think of it, there's no reliable US ally in Africa - do you recall seeing black brothers from Africa or northern african muslims doing their bit to expand the empire in Iraq? I don't think so.

Those Africans are like the Israelis, they get money from America, but they don't fight like the loyal Salvadorans, or the two guys from Micronesia who joined the coalition of the willing and did their part to defend democracy and the American way of life. Or was it to find WMD's?
